USB 3 port controlling music

Hello:

Every time one of my kids plugs in a device into the rear seat usb 3 port (on the left) the sound from their device takes over the stereo. I have not been able to find a fix. Does anyone have any information to fix this issue?

Ask your kids to use the other USB port beside it. One is connected to the Media center the other only charges..
There is a #3 beside the one that you don't want them to use. The 3 indicates it's the 3rd of 3 ports that connect to the Uconnect. 1 is on the dash and 2 is in the armrest.
Perhaps get them some USB C cables or a USB multi-port hub

Thanks. I have asked them to do that but wondering if there was a way to override port 3 from taking over the sound even when I am using port 1 or port 2 to play sound through the stereo

I have had to install a USB charger into the cigarette lighter for this. I am going to install power ports int he back that arent connected to the uconnect at all for the kids too. Quite the annoyance. It would of been nice if there was someplace where we could swap around what had power & what was actually conencted to the head unit. The dash USB is completely useless as I just use the arm rest USB.

Could always just add some black duct tape over the ports so they cant use the ports. Then OP could plug into port 1 or 2

An option is to get a couple of USB A to USB C adapters for a few bucks. You could even just leave them in the USB C ports.

So there is a total of 4 back there? I dont have the far rear ones, but got the same issue with someone plugging into the dash while I am plugged into the console.

If there are others to use then simply put a dummy USB anything in the port you dont want kids using & its solved. An old like 1gb low profile thumb drive or something

I use usb data blockers. Phone charges but the outlet won’t Try to access the data. Came in handy on a two week camping trip where we were charging phones, cameras and tablets.
