Hey guys. Saw this tip on youtube and thought I would share. Home depot has 108 quart plano boxes for about 35 bucks. Amazon has FrostKing weather-seal for about 5 or 6.

Was thinking I needed two, but it’s looking like one may fit what I need. Planning on tossing a little bit of recovery gear, a tent, some emergency equipment, jumper cables, the mopar raincover, etc in it, strapping it in between the wheel wells, and calling it a day!

I know some will laugh at this, but I have been trying to save money so I can buy tires early next year, so this was a no brainer temporary solution until I get a tonneau in a year or two. Gotta save up for tires first!

Forgot to mention, the boxes also have wheels and can be rolled around cooler style.

I’m gonna get it ready for a road trip tonight so I will post pics then. I’m thinking it will rest nicely with my gas can between the wheel wells and I will just use a ratchet strap for now.

I use something similar, 1 box for tools, dirty jacket, and some gear, one box for things like fluids, spare parts, and other crap. I also have them tied down in the bed to keep them from going everywhere if four wheeling, or if I roll it. It's a carry over from my years of using a XJ where I had them in the back of that were loose things were much more dangerous.

They also work great as a steeping stool to get in and out of the bed when I am sleeping in the back.

I also an running a topper.

A side note, those boxes are nice but if they aren't secured with a lock/cable in an open bed, then it makes it very easy for a thief to walk away with $300 bucks worth of crap in a nice and easy carry box.

On your suggestion, I will toss a bike lock on it to prevent thieves of opportunity. Won’t stop someone with bolt cutters but better than nothing.

i have some cheap pad locks keeping the lids secure, then a locking cable run though the pad locks and the D ring to keep things from walking off.

I'll try to get some pics of my setup.
