I’ve scoured all the info available is, and it’s a lot. I’d just like to know what lift/tires can I go with on my JTR that wouldn’t require anything extra (gears, break lines, etc). Is the default answer of
  • 35s (and which 35 is another debate which I need help with. KO2s?) and
  • the Mopar 2” (Are those shocks as good as the ones I have? Is there a better kit out there?)
really the best way?

I put a 1" puck on the front to level my truck after adding a winch and bumper. I recently replaced the 285/70r17 tires with Toyo 35/11.5r17 load range C tires. I chose the Toyos at 11.5 because they fit under the fenders and they are lighter than other 35 inch tires. I am very happy with this setup. The road ride is quiet, and the truck still drives like stock. I've been semi-happy with the stock Fox shocks. Sometimes, on the highway, they feel a little soft. However, they have been very good off-road. I've wheeled my truck in Colorado, Moab, and the Appalachian Mpountains. I am pleased with the capability of the truck in the current form.

This is with the new 35 inch tires.

Your best bet is probably the mopar lift and run 37s.

Wouldn’t 37s require a regear?
I'm running 37's and have 4.10 gears on my Max Tow, have not regeared and get 17.2-17.5 mpgs. Just got 18 on our way to the beach. Jeep looks like this

That’s too broad of a question. Everyone’s idea of what upgrades are needed varies and your goanna get a TON of different opinions. How are you going to drive your JT? Daily driver on paved streets only? Do you drive highway speeds a lot? Mild, moderate or hard off-roading? Are you planning on using it to tow? What will your typical payload be? Do you mainly drive in a hilly area or is it relatively flat? Just too many variables. To get helpful opinions, you need to provide more details.

No rub so far. I'm not expecting any.

One factor that doesn't get much mention in these discussions is tire weight.
The Falken Wildpeak M/T that came on my truck weighed 61.3 pounds.
The Toyo 35/11.5r17 I used weigh 63 pounds.
The 35/12.5r17 Falken Wildpeak M/T weighs 79 pounds.
The Falken wildpeak 37x12.5r17 M/T weighs 81.3 pounds.

The extra weight matters. My biggest concern regarding tire weight is wear and tear on the suspension componets. Ride quality can also be effected.

Thanks for the info. How does the engine feel when you’ve got to pass someone. Hows the transmission doing?

I’ll answer all your questions!

Daily driver and weekend warrior.
Yes, highway speeds frequently and road trips
Mild to moderate off-roading. Still want to be able to get it home
Typical payload right now is what’s needed for what’s needed for 2 little ones and 2 adults.
I live coastal, but don’t want to be limited to that. I live close enough to mountains that I see them enough.

Any other info I can provide to get some assistance, I’ll gladly offer!

How far down have you aired those toyos to? Any feedback?

They have been on the truck for 2 weeks. I am running them at 37 pounds. I know the area we wheeled in last week (Charlie's Creek, N. Georgia) and I did not feel like airing down was necessary. The tires are rated at 2910 pounds at 50 psi. My truck weighs ~5600 pounds with one person, so tire pressures as low as 30 pounds should be OK on the road. Off road, I might go as low as 20 for sand. I'm mounted on 7 1/2" wheels, so I could probably go lower if I wanted to. Regarding traction, the Toyo feel very similar to the BFG K02 tires I run on my TJ.

Feels no different than 35's, I got no problems getting up to speed or anything, here's a video i did on a 5 minute stretch on I-85 coming out of Charlotte NC. Rolling hills in my area. I'm on the Piedmont/Foothills border of NC, a hour and a half from the MTNS. Other than losing 1mpg because of them being 37's and about 10lbs heavier, they still will get you down the road and pass people without any worries.

Getting up to speed.

Sport? Overland? Rubi/Mobi? Max Tow?Gas/Diesel?

4.10 vs 3.73

4.10 35 wo re-gear in gas.
3.73 33’s wo re-gearing in gas.

Yes there are guys w 37+ on 4.10’s.

Diesel has a lot more tq you can change those above some.
