Wow, that's a great story.

A dog clearing coffee cups off a table because he was so excited to see you is about as good a reunion as you can get.

Sounds like he was one heck of a dog. Maybe it is time for another Shepherd.
Agreed. Shepherds and Jeeps go together like donuts and coffee.

He was named Killer. Jokingly because he was the kindest dog but looked scary as hell. All black with tan socks. When you approached, he stood directly in your way, frozen solid, staring at your face. Sizing you up. If he knew you, there went the tail. If he didn't and you tried to walk past, he blocked your way. Until you said, "Good boy.". If the unknown person reached to pet, there come the teeth. No sound, just teeth. NEVER taught him that, he just did it.

Living in the desert first WATER, a LOT of it. I won't leave the house without at least a few liters of water even for a short trip into the trails. A longer day trip means at least a gallon.

Next an appropriate firearm, at lest one, and of course ammo, reloads, hearing protection for target practice of opportunity etc.

Mylar emergency blankets, 550 parachord and fire making equipment are always in my Gladiator.

Just got a Starlink Mini and that might earn a permanent spot in the Jeep.

Killer is an incredible name for a dog whose biggest crime was being too friendly with the people he trusted 😅

Sounds like he was one heck of a companion. The best dogs always seem to have a way of making themselves unforgettable.

Hard to argue with water being #1.

Curious how you're liking the Starlink Mini so far? We've been seeing more and more people adding them to their trail and overland setups.

Wife and I are considering making the leap for 1 of our vehicles. Probably hers. I just hope it has enough range to cover both vehicles at a normal trail driving distance so we can both have access to it. As LL Cool J once said, “I can’t live without my radio!”
