No idea. Not sure I don’t want to just put modern take off 44’s under it.
Rich's Wilbur is stock - engine, transmission, axles and all. It's amazing where he goes with that thing, mountain trails, snow, and with his dogs on board.

Yes I heard from them. We're working on a solution. Thanks
I will be performing another Sunrider experiment tomorrow, if the planets all line up and there are no solar flares. If things work out, there may be hope for some others. I really can't wait to try it - got too busy today, had to mow, deal with MOLES ripping up the better parts of the yard, other fun stuff.

Your previous post about Mountain Men got me watching the show last night. I haven't watched that show in a few years, but I'm caught up on the few shows I do watch and the news sucks, so I put that one on.
Rich was searching for a mountain lion and had his dog riding on the hood. Tethered, of course.

My wife and I both like the show, and we both love that truck!

Well I have a new one that is supposed to arrive tomorrow so we will see. Hopefully I will get a chance to install it this weekend as we have a good chance of rain for labor day weekend.
So what kind of experiment will you be performing?

A top with modified mounting points up front and modified latch placement, along with shims to see what it takes to make it sit parallel with the door. The modified clamp arrangement is supposed to prevent it from taking so much latching force - and prevent latching it from pulling those drip rails right back down onto the door tops.
I haven't looked yet - but some design changes, apparently.

So they made all these modifications for you and sent you a new one to try?

They are suggesting that with my experimenting, detailed reports and so on - if we find a solution for mine, they are hoping to be able to help others as mine is the worst ever seen.
They got their hands on my original top - and it fit PERFECTLY on their test rig. It was horrible on mine - cut seals, terrible fit, riding all but against the door, but fit perfectly on a test rig.
So.......... no matter what Jeep says, my Jeep is off somehow.

Wow that's crazy that your Jeep is off that much. Will be interesting to see how all this plays out. I still believe that my issue is the stitching is off so I guess I will know soon enough. Good luck with that Bill. Keep us posted.

I will get ya Kickstarted on that 53😂
Unbelievable. That would save some money for sure. I still think the front needs to get swapped though. Steering is not exactly safe, and I can’t think of a good way to retrofit that axle.

But brakes also make me want to just go modern. So much easier than maintaining brakes on 64 year old axles.
