What lift for an overlanding rig?

24 gladiator sport s with max tow. Planning on building my gladiator for overlanding and possibly towing a small camper. Will be going offroad and putting 35 inch tires on. I have been looking at the AEV lift kits. Had one on my wrangler and liked it. I see they offer 2 spring rates. The 3 inch springs seem to be made for carrying loads and such. Will eventually be putting a bed rack on with tent. It will be a long time before my jeep is fully built out so can I get away with the 2.5 inch kit? Will the 3 inch springs be too harsh of a ride when fully unloaded? Not sure yet but might keep stock wheels and run 255/85R17 tires. I was also looking at the mopar lift. Has anyone overlanded with the mopar lift? Want to keep lift height at no higher than 2.5 inches but want to get the right springs to reduce any sag when jeep is fully loaded and towing a trailer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

2" of lift will be perfect for what your looking to do. With a rubicon I added 2" and am able to run 37s easy, so a sport could run 35s on 2" with no rubbing or anything. For spring rates, my 2" was the Mopar with remote res bilstiens, which arent high load springs but I stay level with a full bed of gear, plus rack and RTT. Ride quality is still great in my case, as I like it a little soft. If you are going heavier that a full bed, or RTT like a camper topper, then I think a heavy load spring would be worth it. I also tow a 3500 lb sxs trailer, thats when I sag just slightly, so again trailer + overland gear may need the heavier springs like 2" higher max tow springs. Ive had unloaded heavy load springs in the past and they really make me hate driving.

Side note as well: lifting 2", you will want front and rear adjustable track bars at a minimum. Control arms are nice to haves as well.

Another thing. Springs are the easiest and cheapest part to change in suspension, so if you do a low load spring now, but get too heavly later, thats a simple replacement.

Answered my question. I'm thinking of moving to 37s but was wondering if a 2" lift would work on my JTR. I don't want a step stool to get up in the truck. lol I also like the the look of this more. I have a camper but it's not super heavy. HD rear springs and stiffer shocks should handle it.
