What are the "ultrasonic intrusion sensors" on the wiring diagram?

Pretty sure these are the sensors that detect if someone is opening your dash to steal your radio.

Maybe @JeepCares could answer this? Seems to be a secret, none of my Googling finds anything on those sensors.
As the Customer Care Team, we are not mechanically trained and therefore unable to assist with this inquiry. We recommend contacting your servicing Jeep dealer .

LOL, dealer said they don't know, try contacting Chrysler.

So, it's still a huge mystery. I guess my next thing will be to build a solid state latching relay and see how the car accepts that.

@SwampNut i just came across your thread as i had the same idea as you with wanting to possibly wire in a motion on the factory alarm. i searched allmoparparts.com's replacement parts catalog for "intrusion sensors" and it seems they are only available for JK's. so, perhaps as JESmith said, they are planning on adding as future upgrades later. But, does that mean that if not wires, are there at least terminals somewhere we can run our own wires too?

The JK didn't have any motion sensors either, so none of this makes sense. In all of the years of trying to do the same on my JKs, I never found any evidence of any such connection.

Jeep can't get the website for service to work, so I doubt this will ever work. Vehicle health updates once a month with no rhyme or reason. I drove an hour to the dealer for an appt I made for 7:30. They told me the appt was for 9:30. I showed him the screenshot and he said "oh, yeah that system doesn't work too well" It's just known that it doesn't work and they don't need to care because mindless monkeys will buy a jeep because they will. I know this is off topic but like Jeep, I ain't doing it right today. Rant over.

had some time tonight, so i thought i'd revisit this. went to the JL forum and d/l'd the complete wiring diagram zip file. after looking thru several pages, i think it's possible but, i think the extra security stuff is for exported vehicles only. why? i dunno, it's kinda dumb i think not to include it. Regardless, once you got the proper modules, i think you'd still need a flash by the dealer (if they were willing or even knew how to do it) to turn the system on in the computer's eyes. So unless Tazer or some other programer out there takes it on, we're stuck with third party

Good point on the foreign vehicles, hadn't thought of that. And probably correct on the flash.

I’m sure these are unrelated to the rear backup sensors. Intrusion Detection can include active and passive systems. A passive unit example could be a glass breakage sensor that is designed specifically for that sharp breaking glass sound. An active unit could be an ultrasonic radar. I haven’t researched the security system to know how elaborate it is. Would be interesting to get more info.

Chrysler has included ultrasonic sensors on the alarm systems of some of their vehicles like the 300c and the Grand Cherokee. In the JL if they were installed you would have fuse 78. I am not aware of the sensors installed on any US Wranglers. There is additional wiring and connectors such as under the cowls possibly for upfitters. There is also an upfitter wiring diagram for third party companies that upfit FCA vehicles for special use like police use that have some additional wiring and connectors in place.

A side note on the safety systems, they can be dangerous as Tesla has found out. All of them have limitations called out in the owner's manual but most people don't read the manual. One of the car magazines tested several manufacturers systems and complained the differences in how they work and the different limits cause confusion.
