Again, going back 20+ years to when I bought my TJ......

At the time, some dealers would "buy back" the factory wheels and tires on a new Jeep. Like, if you rolled in with a set of your own mounted wheels and tires, they would swap them out and give you money back for the stock ones. Anyone heard of this happening anytime in the last 3 presidencies?

Question #2, anyone ever gotten a dealer to go "off list" with a special order? Specifically, the Gladiator Rubicon comes with 2 tire choices. The Wrangler Rubicon comes with 3 choices (the third is labeled as an "off-road" tire), and the 3rd looks to be BFG A/Ts, which I personally love. It's just a tire swap. Anyone ever able to order their truck with a tire swap?

Thanks,
Darel

I'll take that as a no on both counts?

In the TJ days, particularly when the Rubicon debuted in 2003, the factory wheels were super sexy and everybody wanted them. They'd never seen anything that hot offered on a factory Jeep before. Ever. So they were in high demand.

Today, you can't give a set of factory alloys away. Sure, there are a few guys who'll pay $1,200 for a set of Rubicon take-offs, which is senseless when you can get an aftermarket set of wheels and tires with better specs for the same money, but I digress....

So, good luck finding a dealer who will buy back factory wheels.

As far as tires go, they can only order what's on the order guide for that particular vehicle. Most dealers will put any tire you want on the Jeep, but they'll charge you for it. They can't do a "swap" in the system, and they aren't going to do anything on their own that costs them money.
