Granted I have not seen the lockable storage in person yet, however, I don't think I would be locking a gun in there. It looks to be made of a plastic material and I don't think the locks were particularly beefy. A metal aftermarket box using the same mounting points is the first mod I will be looking to make.
Several states require a compartment containing firearms to be OEM. For example, in KY a firearm kept in an oem compartment, lockable or not, is not considered to be “concealed” and universities cant prohibit students/faculty/visitors from storing their firearms in OEM compartments while their vehicles are on campus.

The under-seat lockable storage obviously works as a long gun case. But Jeep designer Mark Allen, being interviewed on Youtube's "The Fast Lane" would not comment on it "holding a rifle" he just said "hunting equipment". Jeep has mentioned numerous times it can hold baseball bats, fishing poles, etc., but won't utter the word gun. What is the aversion there?

btw JEEP NAILED IT with this truck!!
I just can not believe "baseball bats" were mentioned, they are killers!

They don’t mention katanas! :surprised: And mine is not lockable. :headbang: Really wonder about getting a locking box.
