😆 There’s a good reason why we have a 3 car garage….. because it prevents us from buying more stuff that we can’t enjoy. ☺ The BMW is our daily speedster and the Jeep is our daily truck & convertible. The boat takes up the 3rd bay.

Back when we were younger…we would’ve loved to do a restoration on an old CJ. We were eyeballing a poor CJ7 sitting in the weeds for years…. Stopped to ask about it and they didn’t want to sell it. 🙄 I guess it wasn’t meant to be…. Instead, we helped a buddy of ours restore his. That was good enough…..

Now-a-days….we’ve been collecting toys that take up less space 😊

For retirement…I’d love to find a good size-able chunk of land big enough to build a shooting range on it, with a small house overtop a HUGE garage (6 car or bigger). Yea…I know…. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!! 😉
Easy to do if you get off the wrong coast. Our 41 acres in the mountains of northern AZ was under $1k/acre. We spent the last year building our cabin, but the retirement house and shop are about 10 years out. No need to set up a range on property as we back up to over 1,000 acres of blm land. All total we are $65-70k into 41 acres with a 12'x16' cabin with a full loft, fully off grid with solar, 500 gallon water tank, and propane water heater. It's more affordable than people think.

They build 49,000 Ford Jeeps in Richmond, CA during the war. At the old Ford plant, they have the Rosie the Riveter Museum with a fully restored WWII Ford Jeep. Mountain Hardware rents 14,000 square feet of the old plant for their employee store. It is a cool place that offers 40-60 percent off of all their gear and lets government employees in to shop!

I picked up one of these because it reminded me of the old WWII era Jeeps. Mahindra was contracted to help build Jeeps back then. Several years ago, Mahindra started to produce the Roxor using a lot of the old blueprints. FCA got involved and put an end to the use of the slotted style grill. This is what it ended up looking like.
According to some, Willys sold them production rights to the CJ-2, along with a few other companies. Two of the others have been competing with Jeeps even.... Toyota and Land Rover. I was one of them guys who read many of the off-roading rags and JP magazine.

The inside of the old plant is a very cool building.

It is definitely more tool than toy. The Honda and Kawasaki UTV's are no match on durability. The Mahindra has that old style Jeep feel( mechanically) yet modern electronics for the diesel engine.

I don't know if you'd see much of a difference in durability if used the same. 55hp and speed limited to 55mph. Almost no suspension travel. No lockers. Vs the other sxs's out there running 100mph and jumping out in the desert. Of course slow and boring is reliable and it's marketed towards that type of driver too. It's the Toyota business model. Sure a tacoma is more reliable than a gladiator, when driven at part throttle to the mall and Starbucks drive thru. Run them both hard through the rubicon or at freeway speeds in the desert and you'll quickly learn the Toyota breaks more often than the jeep. The roxor would be the same... if it were even capable of being driven hard.

How does the Cadillac Escalade fit in here?

Jeep had the Pinto gas tank issue with the Grand Cherokee and Liberty.
I think he meant expedition.

Yeah, I was annoyed because I didn’t get a free trailer hitch. They had the recall after I bought mine.

I‘m lucky to have two of these. Both excellent runners. 1943 FORD GPW radio Jeep and 1942 Willys MB With pedestal mounted .50 cal. Neat video by Jay but at least one unfactual statement by him. he stated they have mechanical brakes. They have single circuit hydraulic brakes. And they did not come with those awful looking locking hubs.

It's hard to beat the powertrain in the Roxor for pure function on our property and just general fun putting around the mountain roads around here. Old school 5-speed manual paired with a barely-stressed diesel is about as good as it gets for my purposes. Tons of torque, impossible to stall, does highway speeds if needed, MPGs in the "too good to even keep track of" range, reliable and proven parts from top to bottom, and doesn't sound like a pissed off wood chipper.

I end up using it to run errands almost every time the weather is even remotely decent.......and sometimes even when it's not.
