Good point - I appreciate the link.

But the cowl bracket I have does have to go through that hinge bolt otherwise it can't be used properly. But I am a little nervous about stripping it out. That would not be a fun day

I'm thinking if you take the hinges off you can at least manage everything better. Maybe chuck it in a vise where the paint don't shine and get good leverage on it.
The thought of a Torx bit skidding across the painted finish on the vehicle is not appealing.

Who makes the brackets? No instructions or installation videos on Youtube?

they're pretty simple. Several companies make similar products that are mounted using the windshield hinge bolt.

And I agree, skipping across the paint with the torx bit would be a depressing day. But the entire cowl is plastic! crazy...
