Here's a video showing the unboxing, mounting, hooking up, and setup of the @WOLFBOX 50Amp EV Charger, Standard. I was not paid to do this review. But I did have their permission to do it. Standard means its a J1772 connector. I know this is a Jeep forum, but lots of people here have EVs, including the JLU Wrangler 4xE. And it's looking more an more like a PHEV Gladiator is a likelihood. This is the highest amp rating of any L2 charger I've been exposed to. Obviously the difference between L1 and L2 is significant when it comes to efficiency and charging speed. But this charger is faster than many L2 chargers out there, and it's not overpriced. That's tough to ignore. This charger requires a 70amp 240v (2 pole) breaker, and actually puts out up to 50amps to the car. This does depend on the capabilities of the vehicle being charged. For example, my 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV can take up to 48amps, and I measured this charger doing exactly that. It now charges 50% faster than before. We also have a Volvo XC60 PHEV that will only take 15amps max. There's way more control, but it charges at the same rate as the previous 32amp L2 charger. The data and control you get with this charger is truly impressive. It comes standard with 2 RFID charging cards so you can protect your charger from unauthorized use, especially when mounted outdoors. But you can turn that feature off if you don't need it for your installation. It's weather proof, with the obvious exception of immersion, so you can mount it anywhere. This version is hardwired, but their 40amp version plugs into a Nema L40-50 receptacle. But I personally prefer a hardwired charger. Make sure when installing any EV charger that you adhere to all electrical safety and codes. I included some real screenshots and still photos at the end of the video to show how thorough and nice the app is. Usually I would say an EV charger is about the same as many others, but this one genuinely impresses me. And it wasn't on my radar, so hopefully others will find this helpful. If anyone has questions or wants me to test something specific, I'm happy to do it. I shared some real screenshots of the app at the end. I apologize to everyone for my horrific video editing skills.
