Hello Community,

We’ve noticed that some of our valued forum members have questions about hardwire kits and their installation. To help you better understand this essential accessory, we’re kicking off a new series of posts dedicated to the basics of hardwire kits and their proper setup. This is Part 1, and we’ll continue sharing more insights in the coming weeks!
What is a Hardwire Kit?
A hardwire kit is a power cable designed to connect your dash cam directly to your vehicle’s fuse box. It allows the dash cam to draw power even when the engine is off, enabling features like parking mode. This ensures your car is always protected, even when you’re not driving.
Key Benefits of Using a Hardwire Kit
  1. 24/7 Protection: Enables parking mode to monitor your car while parked.
  2. Cleaner Setup: No dangling cables, keeping your dashboard neat and organized.
  3. Battery Safety: Hardwire kits with low-voltage protection prevent your car battery from draining.
Basic Installation Knowledge
Here’s a quick overview of the installation process:
  1. Locate Your Fuse Box: Check your vehicle’s manual to identify its location. Common spots include under the dashboard or hood.
  2. Choose the Right Fuse Slot: Select a fuse slot that provides power only when the car is on (ACC) and another that’s always powered (BAT).
  3. Connect the Ground Wire: Secure the ground wire (black) to a metal bolt or screw that’s connected to your car’s chassis.
  4. Add Low-Voltage Protection: Ensure the hardwire kit has built-in low-voltage protection to safeguard your car battery.
Pro Tip: If you’re unfamiliar with fuse boxes or wiring, we recommend seeking professional help to ensure a safe and proper installation.

How I have mine wired in. My question is how do you keep the clock on time? Is there a way to calibrate it?

My clock stays on time. Initially I had the Red and Yellow wires reversed since I didn't read the instructions and thought the red wire was constant and yellow was the ACC but it is actually reversed and the yellow wire is the constant and the red wire is the ACC. After I switched them I didn't have any issues with the clock.

If you mean the time on the dash cam, you can check the settings menu for time and DST.

I have the same issue with the clock not keeping time! Can you confirm what fuse numbers you are using for the Wolfbox? TIA

Just as an FYI I have an EcoDiesel so not sure if the fuse boxes are different. I have the red going to F96 Power Mirror SW and Yellow going to F102 Dual USB port. I used this test light to find the Fuses to use. Before I had it hard wired I was using the usb power adapter and it would not keep time at all. It was a different time every time I got in it.

I ended up using F102 and F52 I believe. No issues except it not keeping time like I mentioned before. Can't remember which one was constant hot.

I've had my hardwire kit laying around for awhile now waiting to get some time to install. I started today finally after 1 year and half 😂. I decided to use F57 for ACC and F94 for CON. That's as far as I got as I was looking for a good ground to use. I have a switch Pro's for my lights and it sits next to the battery. The bolt I was going to use sits right under it. I wasn't in the mood on removing switch pros panel just to use that bolt.
