Really like mine so far. MPG is a drop from the Overland, but then it's the same engine trying to make a bigger, heavier truck move down the road. Pounds matter. the higher fender flares are like a jib sail up front, great wind catchers! You’ll love the Mojave… and all around ‘truck’ that’ll tow those toys and go topless/doorless too! You just can’t compare older rigs (XJ’s) with the new. Things have changed so much.
We used to own a 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited that we bought in 2003. At the time, it as a very nice comfy plush vehicle with all the bells and whistles of its time.
We towed 6,500 lbs with it. It did well….but we were pushing its capabilities for towing. We sold it to my mother-n-law….she loved it! We bought a Dodge Ram for towing/. But honestly??….it’s just another SUV…….. that gets lost in the sea of SUV’s.
We have a 2024 Mojave and tow a 17ft bass boat almost every weekend. We love it!!! The JT does extremely well towing it……No issues what-so-ever. It tows similarly to the previous truck we had…. 2016 GMC Canyon. ‘
You should test drive one….. you won’t regret it!
Comfort and ride - good. Some areas it's a step up from Overland, others it's the same. Depends on the road and the "irregularity". Bigger tires also span some cracks and pavement shifts better than smaller tires, so there's that, but it was a good choice for ride comfort, IMO.
1" taller - close. My Overland had a lot of "stuff" hanging on the front - steel bumper, winch, 2" receiver and the very heavy snow plow brackets (and a couple pounds of wiring).
So I put taller springs under the front of the Overland. The end result was roughly 3/4" lift, depending on fuel tank fill.
The Mojave sits about where my Overland sat for height. I do not believe that after I put the winch on my Mojave that I'll need the longer snow plow frame brackets - I'd bet that Mojave settles to close to where my Overland rode. Right now it's 1/4" into the "need longer brackets" territory. The winch and receiver should drop it at least 1/4" so I'll be able to use the Overland brackets for the snow plow (saving a couple hundred bucks or more)
