SpecGate is a patent-pending modular tailgate platform for your Jeep Gladiator that allows you to attach, mount, and pivot a series of Gladiator-specific mounting plates and accessories. No modifications are required to your Gladiator (no cutting or drilling), and the entire system can be installed in less than 10 minutes. All the tools you need are already included!



SpecGate simply replaces the factory service panels on your tailgate. Once installed, you can attach your gear, tools, and accessories directly to the SpecGate using a combination of our quick-release, Gladiator-specific InteGate Plates and Hardware.

Thanks for the feedback. We wanted to design a genuinely functional platform that didn't detract from day-to-day tailgate usage.

We made sure not to increase stack height and recess all the L-Track, so if you had to slide a cooler, tools, or whatever out of your Gladiator's bed, nothing would get caught up on anything. Plus, all the extra attachment points for tie-downs make securing cargo a snap. No more running 20 feet of a ratchet strap to zig-zag across the bed to tie up something small.

To be honest, we didn’t set a hard date yet as we were going to do this deal for the remainder of this first production run.

Best guess is it’ll be good until the last week of the month, but I’ll get with the team to get a more definitive answer and report back.

We’ve sold quite a few since this was posted yesterday and we’re stoked to get more SpecGates on Gladiators. The customer feedback and new use cases have been awesome so far!

It's a very neat product. I just ordered. One thing I want to do is attach a trash bag that will stow inside the bed and not spill, or flip out and hang under the open tailgate when in camp.

Great idea … and simple to do!

Depending upon the type of bag (or it’s something reusable in the vein of a Trasharoo), you can hook it to the quick-release Matador tie-down rings via a small carabineer or use a 5-Star Knob x S*Nut combo through a grommet or loop.

You’ll definitely have to share some photos after you get your setup dialed in.

We received a couple of emails about adding a ladder, especially on a lifted Gladiator. We designed our removable ladder mounting plate to eliminate the need to permanently mount anything to the tailgate. (If you don't need it, take it off.)

With the plate, you can add a Traxion (or Traxion XL if your JT is tall) and secure it to the Specgate anywhere on the gate, including straight off the back or off to the driver or passenger side. When you don't need the ladder, take out the (2) 5-Star Knobs and leave it behind in the garage or the bed of the truck.

I can’t believe my brain could not think of something as easy as that umbrella stand but yours did so your reward for thinking of it first is that I bought one of those too.

1000% agree on the possibilities ... they're endless. That's part of why we wanted to create a modular system allowing you to adapt, adjust, and change your setup as needed. Not everyone wants to be married to something mounted on their gate full-time. We have EJS on the schedule for next year, most likely with our sister company Terra Acoustics.

Our team has been around pickups forever - all makes, sizes, etc - and we have always wanted a little shade when working on something on the tailgate or just taking a break and resting for a few minutes. Being able to toss the umbrella in the stand and get instant shade in seconds has been HUGE and come in very handy.

Please let us know what you think about your SpecGate after you get it installed.

I don't mean to throw shade on your product, but... why isn't it a complete tailgate board (ubox/dee zee makes these, obviously without the L-track)? It seems like you'd have a much more functional tailgate surface/tailgate protector if it weren't just replacing the access panels... One could use filler strips on the L track for a mostly flat surface when L-track accessories weren't needed; the best of both worlds. Maybe version 2?
