Did a trip from Phoenix to San Diego and back. While driving down the road AC working fine. Then we would hear what sounded like heavy rain or sand hitting the windshield. Warm air would be felt by passenger feet and then back to cool air through the vents. Later it sounded more like a piece of paper or plastic as it flaps in the wind.

This happened maybe 7 or 8 times intermittently.

On the way back my wife drove for a bit. I remembered A 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 AC was working but air wasn’t coming through. It too acted weird with the air recirculating actuator coming on and off. This happens as coils and lines freeze up and it tries to defrost. Well that’s what I think it was. Eventually found a plastic bag that got sucked into the interior vent inlet.

So, with that knowledge and staring right at my glove box, I dropped the glove box. And guess what? I could t find that damn temp Reg like a few weeks ago. I found it now. So, watch them loose papers and plastic in the glove box.

Oh, inner fender liner flipped into my front tire in high winds messing it up and window chip.

Point of this post, if Your AC is acting weird, check the interior air vent intake to see if it sucked up something.

wild but good to know!

I remember when the JT first came out the fender liners on the rubis were super thin and would flop at high speed. made me wonder if I had the issue on my sport s....which I don't think I did. but i ended up drilling small holes in the fender liner and zip tieing the fender liner to the frame in a couple spots. Never had an issue..so not sure if i fixed it or wasted my time. but thankfully haven't had any fender liner issues.
