so per Mopar my stock tires were " LT285/70R17C BSW A/T tires on 17x7.5 Granite Crystal Alum Wheels " (About 32"?) but whomever owned this Jeep before me did an upgrade and put some 35's on, is there a way I can tell if the Jeep (I assume through uconnect?) was reprogrammed for these larger tires or would I have to get a tazer unit?

I see this under description for the tazer https://www.zautomotive.com/product/z_tzr_jlm

  • change tire size
TIA

The easiest way to see if the ecu was reprogrammed for the larger tires is to check the vehicle speedometer against a GPS app on a smartphone. The app I use on an iphone is called Speed Box and seems to be accurate. A tazer is an option for reprogramming but there are a lot of options out there. The least expensive one I have found is to buy a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and a security gateway cable from Amazon and use the Jscan app on my phone.

Definitely get it fixed. Changing tire size not only makes your speedometer accurate, but with the wrong tire size your odometer and mpg will not be accurate.

I second @Idlethunder with the OBII connection. I got the cable for $20, the OBII adapter for $32 and JSCAN for $21. All in was $73, far cheaper than a Tazer. Take a look at the Tazer vs JScan features and see if the extra money for a Tazer is worth it to you.

I already got the Tazer, I followed this video and changed the size to 34", I used a level placed it on the tire, and then dropped a tape measure for size. first time I did it I used 34.5" and it was still slightly off, so I saw another video (which of course I cannot find) which suggested using the level and tape measure method.

Perfect. The numbers always seem off. Mine was off by .25" even with the level and tape measure. Had to adjust it a few times to get it right.
