If I had to tow a trailer regularly I would have never given up my Ram 1500. If I ever went back to towing a larger camping trailer any kind of distance I would be back in a Ram 1500 in a flash likely. As much as I love my Gladiator I would not want it for my main towing vehicle.

I’ll say this, I just traded my super dependable 2014 F-150 for my awesome 2020 Gladiator High Altitude and couldn’t be happier. There wasn’t anything wrong with my F-150, but when I saw a heavily modified Mojave, I knew I wanted to make a change. This is my first Jeep and love everything about it. If I had the same problems you’ve had, I would want a change as well, maybe just not out of the family. Just remember, there is a F-150 owner out there having the same multitude of problems with their truck and wanting out as well. My F-150 experience was owning a great truck, but owning my Gladiator has been owning an experience. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I currently own 5 F-150's and have owned at least one Ford pickup since 1979. My Jeep is my toy and I consider in a very different class. I love My fords and they certainly are my favorite truck for work and towing. If I could only have one vehicle, it would have to be a Ford Truck, most likely a 250. But I hope the day never comes that I cannot have a fun toy vehicle as my Gladiator is a blast.

The ford is a 22 xlt fx4. Obviously they just like all other trucks cars boats sxs atvs and any man made things might have and can have problems. But the jeep I do have has had/ does have problems lol. For long distance travel it is not trustworthy. And I’m not gone yet so put ya damn torches down lmao. I still have the 4xe and that has not been a bad rig by any means. As far as time in the city I spend some but not not in what most would call a real city. Utica ny. Some in Syracuse ny. None in anything bigger. I’ll post some pics of the 150. Manly cuz someone said no lol

I hear ya dude. I too have had more issues with this truck than ANY other vehicle we have ever owned. It hasn't left me on the side of the road yet, but like you, I've pondered on keeping it. However, I still find myself looking at Jeep parts as much as I look at new trucks. Good luck to ya.

I truly think all of us that tow often consider doing the same. I love the Jt and (thankfully) can’t/dont want to afford to make a swap.

But after realizing that by the end of my last trip in December my family would have camped nearly 55 total days of the year….and pulled thousands of miles…at some point a full size isn’t out of the question.

i have ZERO brand loyalty so im not throwing stones with this comment. Do your due diligence on an F150. Every single person I know thats had one over the last 10 year or so had some significant issues with them. Its PURELY anecdotal but i feel like the gmc sierra is a very solid truck.
I had a 2012 FX2 ecoboost... had it until I sold last year to buy gladiator... almost 200k on it and never had even a single issue, not a burnt out light, not even a flat tire.... damn thing was bulletproof
Towed a 19ft flatbed with steel deck, that thing pulled my raceways and dozens of project cars without an issue on a regular basis

Can't say I would buy another though, even though I'm ordering a 2nd JT (BUYBACK) and it's aluminum body, I don't care for the f150 in aluminum

I had a 2013 F150 XLT with the 3.5 ecoboost motor and it was a great truck. Pulled like a V8 (quietly). Full size crew cab 4x4 and got 20 mpg average with it. Honestly, I wish I still had it. Zero issues with it and based on my miles driven, I don’t think it would have 75000 miles on it today had I kept it. Try not to get emotionally attached to a vehicle and it makes it easier to let go! Love the JT but haven’t had it long enough to give a long term report. I wish you well whatever you decide to drive.

Trade in the Friday built gladiator for another gladiator built on Tuesday. If you are considering the f-150 for more tow capacity and more room for family go for it. But don’t trade in because of the issues alone. My opinion.

I have owned 4 brand new f150 4x4 and 2 brand new f2504x4s at my age the towing times are gone. My wife and I have traveled all over the west in our 2020 jt without one issue and we love it. No matter what you buy you may have problems with it. Brand new 2000 3/4 ton GMC faulty tranny. 1996 brand new z28 Camaro faulty fuel injection almost a fire. Brand new 2016 Cadillac CTS faulty radio and motor mounts. I have 2 buddies with Over 65k on there JTs with no problems. If you want to play BIG RIG TOWING buy a full sized truck and stop whining LOVE OUR JT.

Don’t really recall doing any “whining” as a matter of fact I regardless of the issues have spoken rather highly of the jt. I have also committed money out of my pocket to try and solve the over heating issues even though I personally didn’t have them “to try to help the community” as far as “big rig towing ??” My 19 foot 4200# trailer hardly qualifies. It is however well within the jt specs. However a full size will obviously pull it better. Furthermore I still have a jeep in the driveway and should that one continue to be solid as it has I will likely mod that one with the things I was planning on for the jt.

Get a gas Gladiator.

If you posted looking for validation of your decision, it is a tough crowd here and no one will give a shit what your reasons are valid or not.

I have a feeling though that you are 3/4th the way there to leaving if you took the F150 home for the weekend.

No validation required nor requested lol. I posted simply let others know what’s up and why. I’ve been rather active here for the last year and am well aware of the last jeep I’ll ever own thread and all the good bye threads. This is not intended to be that.
