Uh, no........... why would I?
I'm smart enough to avoid things that are obviously trouble. I'm also clever enough to be able to wash an engine bay and not get into much trouble.
I was making electric and electronic projects before I was a teen.
I saw the black marks on the outlet cover at my friend's house ;-)
So...... you didn't do stupid things when you were a kid. You were no fun to play with then. I'm surprised that I survived my youth. Picking fights in bars, riding cows at night and jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.

Geez Russ, how does that stuff get into your brain. Do you live in a pot legal state? I’m ever amused.
I have a really strange sense of humor. I read earlier in another post about someone saying about bigfoot and the batteries. So I just added that to here.

I wonder if that Bigfoot with the coveralls smells like rotting whale meat? Is that why he sits in a corner on top of the used batteries? Because no one wants to be around him.

Shorting an ECU? Highly unlikely unless you use pressure against the connections themselves. Most of the connections under the hood could sit under water and be fine.
It's only when you aim high pressure against the connectors that you can blast water past the seals in the connector.

There's pretty much nothing you can hurt in the alternator as long as you don't use chemicals against it. I've washed engine compartments for decades - no issues ever (other than maybe not starting because water got under a distributor cap - pull the cap, use some WD40, and things were fine. That's with cars from the 60s through 80s)
I got over worrying about in when I was wheeling above Great Sand Dunes NP in CO this summer. We’ve had a good monsoon in the SW this year and made eight pretty deep stream crossings and one 3+ foot mud hole up to near the top of my 35s probably over the 31” limit. The engine was covered in water and mud. I imagine you mud guys in the South do that all the time. Came home after driving 200 miles and carefully washed it off at the car wash with the low power spray not the high power spray. I’ve done that with all my Tacomas. Never an issue.

What's his name with the deleted JTRD packed mud into his alternate. I'm still baffled on how he did it.

I can’t imagine. In NM we don’t get much water. High desert. Dust and sand and lots of rocks. The CO trip was a nice change.

I picked up my new gladiator a week ago today I opened the hood and notice there was no plastic cover on the 3.6L called dealer and they said it doesn't have one never seen that before
Mmmm... I think that means you're probably going to die in a fiery crash. Sorry.

I hope it doesn't happen, but just in case it does.... can I have your stuff?

My 2021 JT Mojave came with an engine cover but it was built in 10-20. My wife’s 2021 JL Willys built in 5-21 also came with an engine cover.

That’s what I’ve been telling my wife but she keeps running away from me.
I told you that if you want sex. You have to quit using the Rotting Whale Meat Colon.

$140 plus shipping and you can have mine. Better hurry won’t last long. I gotta pay for those windshield wipers somehow.
