I got a new Mojave x on Saturday. The salesman was nice, but he had to verify a couple of ann to my questions even though he states he’s sold Jeeps for 30 yrs. So I just have a little concern that I can trust his answer.
I got home and wondered what this black plastic covering is on the left wall of the bed. Yesterday I asked the salesperson and was told it was where the 115 A/C outlet goes if it is installed. I thought that outlet is installed on the right side bed wall.
This plastic covering appears glued/sealed on top of the bed liner. Just wanting peace of mind to make sure I didn’t get a defect and they glued a plastic covering over the area bc I can’t find this in anyone else’s photos of there bed. I greatly appreciate any guidance. (Photo attached and the area is circled in red in the picture.)

thanks!

That part of the bed unit seems like utilizable space. I wonder if this was for some scrapped/postponed factory option like an air compressor (similar to the tailgate one in the 392 Wrangler).

Aside from all the dirt and water that gets kicked up into there, maybe it is a decent place to mount a compressor, diesel heater, or organize electrical if one is able to make a bracket.

I thought a bunch of dirt and water would get kicked up into there but looks like it has a “floor” from the picture in that thread. I wonder if that floor is there in earlier model year beds.

I haven't noticed...but I'm going to go out and see if mine has this. I will see what is underneath. Then Ill attach a bag of some kind inside, make the plastic cover a lid, and use it for stowage.
