Hey all,

I have a 22 Rubicon Diesel. I have been eyeballing the tazer mini, but I am scared of messing up my diesel. Love all the features of what they claim it can do. Would only buy direct from Z automotive. Just want to hear you guys either talk me out of it, or light my fire to buy the damned thing.
I've used flash paqs and piggy back tuners on other vehicles with mixed results. Don't want to mess up my ride, and void a warranty.
Lend me your opinions.

Why are you afraid of messing up your truck? You can easily set it back to stock configuration and unmarry the Tazer...

I bought mine from Northridge4x4 and it has been fine.

Use coupon code "litebrite" and you'll save $33 on the price of the Taser mini.

I always check Northridge and try that code. It's good for up to 20%. Doesn't work for AEV stuff though...

We were on the fence for a while. Some senior guys on here explained it to me. Bottom line.... I regret not buying it sooner. Also purchased it from Z with the Warranty and a longer cable. As Mr. T always said..... Don't be a fool........ and not get it. P.S. I can not IMAGINE not having it today. Our second Jeep is on order and due Nov 25th. Within that first week we will be installing it in there. Call me for more details.

I've seen posts from some about throwing codes and check engine lights with the diesel. I'm guessing they did something wrong, but just want to make sure there are no known issues with the module and the Diesel JT.

What features are you looking to benefit from?

I want most of the LIVE features, kill the stupid three honk when I exit with the keys and engine is running. I want the turn signal camera, as I think this is awesome with a half-rack and RTT, and honestly don't know why it isn't stock. I want the expanded access to my lockers. I want to have the switch memory for the ESS, and traction control. I want the expanded access to the sway bar disconnect at higher speed (30mph instead of just 18). If this truly works as advertised, I will use a ton of the features.
I also plan to add the OEM LED lights at some point, and do NOT want to pay the dealership to do it because installing new lights on our trucks is STUPID EASY. I have new LED bulbs but don't like the pattern very much. They work fine for now, for $180, but the OEM LEDS with halos and not having to tap the DRLs would be the cat's meow.
Eventually I may also go to 35's. Mine came with the 33 Falken MUD Terrains, and I have been quite happy with those so far (not even thinking about a lift at this point, as this rubi is quite capable for overlanding)

As far as the extension cable, worth it, or not?
I am also considering this.
This is a must get if you will be using the dealer for warranty service and/or Jeep wave oil changes.

It's not terrible to remove and install, so I opted to not get the extension cable.
Also, to me, that is a sign that something was plugged in there, so if you have a Jerk Dealer, it could cause them to ask questions if you have a warranty issue.

To me, it's a must have, especially for all of the reason you listed. Do yourself a favor and when you install it and start setting the features,
Right down or create a note on your computer, all of the changes you made. When you un-marry it for dealer service, it does not remember what you changed, and this way, you can go back through your list and make sure you don't miss anything when you set it back up.

I also have some quick directions on how to enable some of the features in case I forget, like the key fob clicks for the bed lights
Feel free to plagiarize my list and add your own stuff
Vehicle Settings
Set TPMS Pressure to 30
Disable Fog Light Dropout on Hi-Beam
Live Settings
Turn Cam
Auto Passenger Side Heat
Flash 3rd Brake Light 4 medium
Flash Lights to indicate tire pressure when airing up
Non Menu
Light Show: Unlock-Unlock-Lock-Unlock
Bed Lights: Unlock*3
Bed+Reverse Lights Unlock*5
Turn Off Lock
Anchor Mode: Brake firmly and pull the hi-beam stalk
Line Lock[Burnout]: press and hold the left arrow and cruise set(+) buttons. Continue to hold and pump the brakes twice, firmly
Rock Crawl: Press and hold the left arrow and cruise set(-) button, and pump the brakes twice.
Force Backup camera: Double tap the “mute” button
Partial Reboot
Press left arrow and cruise RES with the ignition set to RUN and engine is not running, and the Tazer will reset several systems including the PCM (engine adaptives), RF Hub, Instrument cluster, ABS, BCM.
Button Remap:
This function allows the assignment of “hotkeys” for quick access to some of the Tazer’s functions. The cruise +/-/RES may be used for this function. While the dash is in Audio mode, press and hold the RIGHT arrow and press the button you’d like to remap.

Same for me. I don’t have the diesel so it’s not a direct comparison but I do have the taser mini and have had zero issues with it.

i have one and its the best thing i did for my JT. with that said. this thing is a replacement for your security gateway within your CANBUS network. i mean they have done a fantastic job with sending the appropriate messages to accomplish whatever you want such as front brake linelock, but their is always a risk it could break something. honestly i have very low expectations from dealers. All they care about is time and how fast they can do something due to warranty pay.

i say all that to say its a risk since you are actually installing a device that sends signals to parts of your jeep that could break something and dealers will f you any way they can cause they are lazy idiots. I forgot to take my tazer out one time at the dealer and i just told the guy dont scan the OBD for an oil change. he was cool and no issues.
