Jeep Gladiator Sweet ride. 2021 Ecodiesel Rubicon. PXL_20230501_144645294

Finally joined the club. This past weekend we flew across the country to pick up this 2021 ecodiesel and drive it home. We turned over 14,000 miles on the drive back.

Not a bad looking driveway when it's parked next to the LJR. We are already thinking about mods and how to build it out to be even more capable - I guess we have two projects now.

What I have in mind so far:

  • Tazer Mini
  • Hitch slider
  • 35" tires once the stock tires wear out
  • Swap out the Mopar Performance "sliders" (steps) for actual rock sliders - still researching this and I'm open to suggestions. I want something that can take a hit and be used as a high lift jack point
  • Mud flaps - I'm going to be towing the track bikes and don't want to beat them up with debris. I found some that are on quick-disconnects so they can be removed for trails.
  • Artec Industries aluminum skid plates
  • 2.5" lift
  • Rims and 37"s after the 35"s wear out
  • RAM mount for the dash
  • Wireless Android Auto dongle
  • Some kind of cargo management system. Mach Built's rep at EJS said they are working on a cargo system for the JT that should be out this year. If that doesn't look good I will just do L-Track
  • Ditch the bug shield, get a clear paint protecting film on the grill, hood, and fenders. Also some vinyl graphics to add some color.

I love my little 21 JTRD. Only did 1250 miles on the trip home from the dealer but scored 2 trail badges on the way.

I really wanted Hydro Blue, but this came up with every feature I wanted except the color - It was too good to pass up. I'm going to look at doing a red go-faster stripe to add some color and some clear protectant film on the hood and fenders.

Haven't heard about ones you can use as a jack point but the Rock Hard Patriots are pretty solid.
May need to look at frame mounted for that though.

Artec Industries aluminum skid plates
Hmm... Skid plates on a 2"lift with 33s now, 35s later, and 37s much later??
That continuous echo you're fixin to hear is "get the 37s now."

RAM mount for the dash
Check out 67 designs. Their F&F is better than bulletpoint.

I was planning on frame-mounted. I don't understand body-mounted sliders, that's more of a side-step in my world. The JT is replacing my Xterra that has frame mounted sliders that have taken an absolute hammering on the trails and never given a millimeter, with the length of the JT I want similar levels of protection.

Hey, let me recover from buying the thing first! I can fit 35"s without changing anything, once a lift is done I can look at rims and 37"s.

Thanks for that, I will check them out.

We hoard motorcycles more than cars. This is the "His" and "Hers" driveway - I have the JT, but the LJR is very much "hers".

Just discovered the previous owner installed a 3rd brake light modulator/flasher.

Now I need to start the automotive archeology to find the damn thing and see if I can remove it. I'm open to tips about where to look.

Edit: Forgot to update this, it was inside the tailgate and they left me very little wire to splice back together.
