Bad drag link, so looking at swapping it all out and the Apex 2.5 ton kit says you'll need a 1.5" spacer if you run stock Rubi wheels or AEV wheels and you need 4.75" backspacing, or less.

I love my AEV Salta XR's and apparently those are 5.72" backspacing.

Am I screwed here on upgrading the tie rod (assuming that's what I'll need the spacing for, not their DL)? Weird considering I thought AEV was a pretty functional brand/outfitter.

You're only screwed if you want to run something like the Apex 2.5T that requires it. I ran a Synergy Mfg drag link (non-flip) with my AEV Borah Wheels just fine. When a company tells you that you have to run 4.75" bs they are not just being conservative.

I recently sold my AEV's though for this exact reason... not enough back spacing. I didn't want to run wheel spacers so I bought Method 703's (+0mm offset/4.75" bs). These now allow me to run Synergy's drag link flip that required 4.75" bs (wouldn't clear the AEV's... I tested just to make sure) as well as Powerbrake 6 piston calipers.

AEV likes to keep everything as close to stock specs as possible which is great to preserve OEM scrub radius and minimize tire poke, but not so great when you want to start running other non-AEV aftermarket stuff. I've learned that you kind of need to plan ahead before running these wheels. Also, my AEV Borah's rubbed (ever so slightly) on my aftermarket, Synergy LCA's at full wheel lock with 37x12.50's. I simply added a washer behind the wheel stop post on the knuckle to limit full lock. Eddy from WOL YouTube video shows how to do this.

Thanks for the thorough reply - that all makes sense. Damn I do love my AEV wheels and frankly just hadn't thought that far ahead.

Given my use of this thing, for now, I may just go with what works with my wheels - looks like Steer Smarts (I already have the Yeti track bar) would fit without further modification.
