Hey all,
I'm getting ready to install new LED head and taillights, I do have a taser installed so I guess I need to change to LED lights in the menu, what does that actually change in the jeep?
Thanks for any information on this!

The vehicle monitors for bulb outage and uses draw to figure it out. You’ll get a bulb malfunction warning as the LED lights pull less electricity. Your headlights will act wonky when trying to use the high-beams. Your taillights might flicker. I’m not sure because I just changed the settings as soon as the lights were installed because why wouldn’t you.

I have a question regarding this: if you "unmarry" the Tazer, e.g. to bring the car for a service, does the car then throw an error with the LED lights (or cause flickering or such with tail lights)?

When you unmarry the Tazer, it restores the settings back to what they were when it was married to the truck. Some have been using Jscan to make the changes, then marrying the Tazer to the vehicle. That gives them access to the live functions without having to go back and change all the settings every time the truck is serviced.

I unmarry/marry in the dealership parking lot. Last time I unmarried at home right before heading to the dealership and my tail lights and turn signals all stopped working after a minute :)

Hmpf. I have to say, that's rather stupid. I can understand for things that don't involve other hardware changes, but some things plain don't make sense to change back. Okay, I'll have to think about how to handle this.

This is the procedure they suggested:

"after you make and save the change, remove the Tazer and then connect it to your computer. Run the ZPU software and click update. On the right side of the update screen, if you click unmarry, and then request, it will give you an unmarry number you can use to purchase an unmarry key. After you purchase an unmarry key, you can unmarry the Tazer on your computer. Then when you reconnect the Tazer to your vehicle and marry it, it will save all the current settings as the stock settings to unmarry to when you need to bring the vehicle in for service."

At this point in time, that's just too much hassle to deal with the Tazer for what be for me questionable value (since I wouldn't use most of the other features anyways).

For what it’s worth, I swapped my halogens for a full LED package this morning. Flashed with the Tazer and zero issues.

You're overthinking things.
The reason for returning it to the original config is because ALL your various options your vehicle came with are tied to the VIN number. If your computer isn't set the way the vin says it should be set, there is a slight chance there might be a conflict if the dealer does a software update, and maybe it could brick the computer, or maybe the dealer declines to warranty something because they say you modified the computer. It's simply a CYA for both you and the company that makes the Tazer. If you know your dealer is cool with it (some have been know to recommend or even actually sell them as an upgrade) , there is a setting in the Tazer that lets the dealer programming pass though it. If you are not sure about the dealer, but really don't GAF if they know you changed the headlights, just remove it and plug the cables back into the SGW.
If you do that without unmarrying it all your changes stick, just like with Jscan.

aftermarket LED headlights? Many of them don't even require a programmer. The ones I've had were plug and play. No error message.

I'll just skip the Tazer and go with JSCAN and be done with it.
If all you want to do are change the lights to LED, or the tire size, or something like that, then Jscan is certainly the cheaper option.. Simpler? Maybe, maybe not. Tazer is a single stand alone device. Jscan is just an app. Then you need to buy an adapter from someplace else, some of which work with jscan, others that don't. Then you need to buy the right cables from someone else, and get all those parts plugged together and working together with your phone every time you want to change something. Easy for some, not so easy for others.

If you want the multitude of live features the tazer adds to the mix, like blanking the license plate lights in reverse, or remembering the state of the auto start/stop, or being able to turn on the bed or reverse lights from the fob, or adding a pin code to prevent fob cloning theft, then Jscan can't help you. You'll have to buy a tazer and simply unplug it when you go to the dealer. I personally think the tazer is simpler and provides added value to me, and I also have Jscan and AlfaOBD and the cables and adapters to make them work. Your mileage may vary, of course. That's why we have options.

I don't get it !
I have a 2021 Sport S that came with halogens and I replaced ALL the lights with led's and didn't need no tazer or anything. All plug-n-play NO TAZER !
Oracle Oculus bi-led projector headlights.
Oracle fog lights
Oracle flush mount taillights.
Daytime running lights
NO TAZER !

Which means you are running a resistor alongside the LED to trick the car into thinking it has working halogen lights. And if you want to run OEM LEDs, you have to tell the car that it has these now.

Oracle built the resistor into its package so customers don't have to.
Hence. Plug-n-Play
