I should add that with the tailgate up it looks goofy.
Not sure anyone would want a heavy load
swinging around back there.
Might make for some weird handling.

I used one on the front of my ‘93 Wrangler, and am considering putting a front mounted hitch on the Gladiator to use the same basket. For the Wrangler, A large cooler and other gear would obscure the headlights, to I added snowplow lights which I’d use when fully loaded. Mounting it in front keeps it out of the way of the tailgate, and provides easy access to the cooler, surf rods and fishing gear when surf fishing on the beach. It leaves the rest of the vehicle open for hauling other things. The cargo carrier is an aluminum basket on a steel center tube, purchased on sale at Harbor Freight for $99. I used an aftermarket bumber with a heavy 2“ receiver welded in. I added electrical conduit surf rod tubes and some stainless steel tie down loops to the basket for securing gear. A key addition is using an anti rattle kit for securing it to the receiver. It’s rock solid and never shook or rattled on and off road.

this is really really great. i had a very similar rack on my TJ and it stressed me out putting those holes in the tub.

I use a hitch basket when we are traveling. Keep my coolers and fold up chairs on it.

I use one to transport firewood for camping trips when the bed is full of other gear

I've got a H.F. aluminum one, I added trailer lights and plug in when I'm using it. I use it with my JT for some things hauling gas cans and msl stuff.

I have 2 steel ones too, one I built it's very solidly made... Surprised, someone who decided to cut in to close at gas station a couple years back. No damage to my Wrangler not so much for his vehicle. :giggle:
