Hi guys - I have noticed over the last several months that at slow speeds (under 15 mph) I can hear a whining noise when I am turning left or right. This is most noticeable pulling out of a parking spot. At first I thought it may have been the power steering but I've read recently that it may be a result of the right rear axle replacement which I had done last year on my 2021 80th Anniversary. I've read it has to do with the differential and friction modifier. Has anyone else heard of this or experienced it? Would this cause my issue? Appreciate the help before maybe bringing it to the dealership.

The steering pump does make a noise. Have someone follow along outside the vehicle to determine where the noise is coming from.

Yeah - I always thought it could be the steering pump but the noise was not there when I first purchased the truck. It seems to have developed and gotten louder over time and I read on the Gladiator Facebook page about people having this issue related to the rear axle. I was looking to see if others have had the issue as well.

I'm having same noise. One jeep dealer said it was my driveshafts and not covered under warranty because of lift. The garage who did the lift said it's my driver rear wheel bearing. Took it to another dealer in another town that they recommended and they told me it is something in my rear differential. They are ordering parts for that. We will see. Hopefully somebody is right.

@Ddmets06 - I wanted to follow up on this thread. What ever happened with your issue? I'm having the same thing and 4 Jeep dealers later, no one can identify it and each on has a different story. I'd be interested to hear if it was something un your rear differential.

Ok. Can't figure out how to send picture.

Found noise coming from the internal clutches in the rear differential carrier assembly. Replaced rear differential carrier assembly.

Yes it did
Ok thanks. Mine is still doing it and the dealership can't figure it out. They thought it was the power steering fluid but that didn't fix it. Then they did the new differential fluid with the friction modifier and that didn't help either. My regular basic warranty actually expires tomorrow but I think this would be covered under the powertrain warranty. I'm planning on bringing it back in and asking them to check the differential out like they did for you. Any chance you could message me the invoice from when yours was fixed? Thanks
