Yeah, it's Kelvin here, I'm starting a new brand to only build trustworthy products for Gladiators, no junk welds, no products released without testing, I take all criticism and opinions seriously, we have a 2022 Willys, now I go camping almost every weekend, just to truly understand what kind of products Gladiator owners need. Of course, as an off-road rookie, I also hope to learn knowledge here and communicate with everyone, If you have any opinions or thoughts, please let me know.

We spent several months testing a lot of tube doors that we could buy on the market. I can’t tell you their names, but I can tell you they are all ones you can buy on Amazon or other websites. , and they are all models with good sales. Combining my previous experience in other projects and everyone’s comments I have seen online, I think our first tube door (codenamed SD1, the abbreviation of Sturdy door) should Has the following characteristics:
1. It will use a 2-inch diameter steel tube, consistent with the first-tier brands, instead of the 1.25-inch diameter popular on Amazon. We believe that the thicker tube will give people a stronger visual experience and sufficient security. As far as I know, many people install tube doors because they want to protect their wives and children, so I don’t want others to have doubts about whether our tube doors are strong and reliable.
2. It will have an expanded steel tube design to give people more leg room. My height is 5.9 and my weight is 185lbs. I know that many American customers are taller and stronger than me. You need more leg room than me... And the expanded steel tube can also protect the passengers' arms when the gladiator is scratched by branches or stones.
3. It will be laser welded. The tube doors I have seen have relatively few bad reviews on surface treatment, but many people hate ugly welds. We avoid using low-cost and poor-quality GMAW. Instead we use laser welding to create more beautiful and concise welds, giving you more confidence when off-roading
4. The rearview mirror must be standard configuration. We also felt this when going off-road. It is very important. It is difficult to drive without a rearview mirror.
5. I can’t promise too much about the price yet. Due to our cost and craftsmanship, it may be a little more expensive than the one on Amazon, but I can guarantee that while it achieves first-class quality, the price will be much lower than those big names.

Now that the outer outline has been determined, we are still modifying the shape of the internal tubes. What do you think?

I like all your logic, though I personally prefer straight horizontal tubes as more conservative/traditional.. but that’s subjective, I don’t think that looks bad.

I think Warn really nailed it with their doors in that they had a little armrest tube at the top.. even sold little pads to attach. I think that would be killer (warn stopped producing their doors).

I like it! I've held off on buying tube doors so far because I just haven't found any that are aesthetically pleasing (welds are a big killer for many). Foam padding, like someone above suggested, would be a nice addition. Also, think about mesh netting as an accessory for the doors. That and the foam padding could be offered in different colors/patterns. Bonus points from me if you can make the netting in the pattern of the MD state flag with dark gray/black colors.

Forgot to mention...just a few more points
6. Our design will follow the body lines of JT. You can see from our samples that the upper lines of our tube doors are flush with the bed.
I know that many doors on the market adopt JL's low body lines in order to cater to the larger JL market. But we don’t think so.Our upper lines are consistent with JT. As far as I know, there is only one brand on the market that has made the half door of JT’s rear line.(I love the packaging of that brand, and I’ve been thinking about how to create unique packaging for the SD1).
7.SD1 is expected to be completed in March, and the shipping period will be about 45 days. We hope it will be on sale in May.
8. When we were testing some AMZ tube doors, there were four different screw specifications on one door, and it was very troublesome to switch tools back and forth.
So we will try our best to choose uniform specifications for the screws on the car door, so that you can install or adjust them with one tool.

Another vote for this. The armrest on the Warn tube doors is super comfortable, even without the pad. Its in the perfect location for me and I miss it when I put the OEM doors back on. This feature is something I would definitely look for if I was replacing my doors.

Just my $0.02 though.

In fact, we have also thought about the idea of arm rests, and we wanted to take it a step further. We found a supplier of PU materials. Their main business is anti-collision buffering for roller coaster seats and amusement equipment.
We are trying to use this material on SD1. On amusement equipment that is exposed to the sun and rain every day, this material can maintain durability for at least three years. I think this is enough for SD1.
This is another design we made. There will be a steel tube inside that is about the same height as the arm rest on the JT original door. If you are driving on the road, you can put your elbows here.
If we were to make PU wrapping, it would probably be on this tube, and there would still be an expanded tube on the outside for extra protection and grip.

I would prefer a half door like jeep makes with a tubular frame but aluminum outer skin that looks similar to the factory half doors. Incorporate a design that feels natural and comfortable to lay your arm on while cruising.

We are considering making a storage bag that can wrap the tube door...It can be fixed on the tube door when using it to provide a more closed experience. It can also be opened and turned into a storage bag when the tube door needs to be stored.
But our current internal shape has not yet been determined, and I am not sure whether our structure allows for such protection, so I cannot promise that this idea will be realized on SD1.
BTW, do you think storage bags are necessary? I know many people like to use hinges nailed to the wall to store original car doors, but how do you usually store the tube doors?

Thank you for your honest opinion, both tube doors and half doors have their pros and cons.
Our SD1 is planned as a simple, comfortable and sturdy tube door.
But don't worry, we will also make the SD2 in the future, it will be more like a half door and maybe even come with all-weather capabilities (yes, as you see some big brands making that kind of product, just adding our thoughts)

I like what you’re doing with the pipe size. Personally, I would much prefer horizontal interior pipes like the Mopar doors. I know you’re trying to create your own unique look, but still think all horizontal piping goes best with the lines of the truck. Just my 2
