Tire/Rim Check - 21' JTDR

Hey folks!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day. While I do most of my wrenching, one area I always seem to second guess myself is tires/rims and how the offset and backspace work. I'm planning on doing some Dana 60s to my Gladiator, and have some 37x12.50R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs that I'm going to throw on my Gladiator temporarily as I work out the plan for D60s. Details below.... will this work? From my research it will, just wanted to get a second set of eyes on it.

Vehicle: '21 JT Rubicon Diesel
Tire: 37x12.50R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT
Rim: Pro Comp 97 Rock Crawler Steelies - 17x9 5x5 w. 4.25 BS (Part # - 97-7973)
Lift: Rubicon suspension w. Teraflex 1.5" Leveling Kit

This tire/rim/lift combo will be temporary. Currently running 33s with the factory Rubicon rim, there seem to be no complaints about running 37s on the Rubicon with a leveling kit other than minor rubbing. From my research... the 4.25 BS will stop that for the most part. Once I go with D60s I will be going with a proper Clayton full performance lift. This is just a temporary clearance/suspension upgrade to give a bit more ground clearance for the fire roads, etc.

Thoughts? Concerns? Tire and wheel experts please feel free to judge my choices ?

that'll work fine. I run those same tires no lift, 1in spacer on OE sport wheels makes my offset about +20. Hasn't rubbed yet. 4.25 BS i believe is 0 offset or greater. On a side note, why the Dana 60? and why such a heavy wheel? you plan on 40s or something in the future?

Appreciate the response, and thanks for the info. I'll be going up to 40s and I don't trust the factory axles to hold that kind of mass. I wheel frequently with a good mixture of rocks and overlanding, so want that extra insurance of the 60s.

The rims are temporary, though I do love the look of steelies. They're inexpensive and I don't want to run 12.50s on the stock Rubicon rims as the width technically isn't supported. The Pro Comps allow me to run the 12.50s without spacers on a supported rim width.

the 12.50 width is supported on 7.5in rim. only 37s not 35s. I've seen guys rock 39s on stock reinforced axles no issue but 40s i agree thats the line. Can't wait to see it done tho. good luck.

Also would you not need 1-1.5" spacers on the stock Rubicon rims to not rub? I know in Canada good spacers will run you $400-500 for a set and those steelie rims are about the same cost. I'm planning on selling the stock Rubicon rims to recoup some of the cost as well.

The axle upgrade for me is also a peace of mind thing. I like to do long road trips while wheeling, and I like that extra security of knowing if I get a little squirrely on the pedal I'm less likely to blow up a pumpkin or turn it into a smiley face.

I'll get a build journal going once I figure out a name for it haha.

Also would you not need 1-1.5" spacers on the stock Rubicon rims to not rub? I know in Canada good spacers will run you $400-500 for a set and those steelie rims are about the same cost. I'm planning on selling the stock Rubicon rims to recoup some of the cost as well.

Rubi rims are ugly ones indeed, I'd rather rock steelies. Appreciate the info!

i only use that setup for trail use and just like your boys who mounted em (all 5 in under 15 mins, i might add) said, "its a poor man's beadlock"
