When we take the Jeep out, we try to get away from everything. Large groups of people, so easily get out of control, when drinking is involved. I have not been to an event with that many “Jeep enthusiasts” (tongue in cheek), and I didn’t buy it for mall mode, or parking in a group of 5000 other revelers. I want solitude and serenity, even to hang out and drink.
Get out there guys and gals

Yes it's not everyone, but when a few hundred people decide to be assholes it makes businesses think, is it worth it.

People rang up restaurant and bar tabs and left without paying
In 2023, more than 200 arrests were made and dozens were hospitalized for various injuries. Luckily, nobody was killed last year, which hasn’t always been the case.

It only takes so many to give everyone a bad name.

Exactly! The same thing happens at a lot of other types of rally's whether it cars, motorcycles etc... Sadly, our society has become "Look at me"!

I use to go to the Steel City Hill Climb in Pennsylvania back in the 80's until two rival biker clubs decided to start shooting at each other.
Not all bikers are bad, just like Jeep people.
Only takes a few 😪

As someone who used to attend weekend races at Watkins Glen during the early to mid 1970's I can
add that large groups do invite excess.. Earlier on it was alcohol abuse and all night parties, but in
all honesty that was part of the attraction. Then they discovered the 'bog', basically a big mud hole.
Initially they raced motorbikes through, then came cars, later they brought old junkers just to run
the bog and left them behind for the track folks to dispose of. Later some unfortunates left their
car keys in their vehicles and they were hijacked and run through the bog and ruined. The last
straw for me, and my now wife, was when they stole a bus bringing in daytime attendees, drove
it to the bog, rolled it over and burned it. Later the bog was filled , but the damage had been
done, still a great track but much unlike when we were in our 20's, it's all different now. Besides,
since Covid, is gathering in large numbers a good idea and how do you control attendance ?
