Howdy! Hoping someone can help out, my 2020 gladiator sport was sitting at home for a month, came back, fired it up and gave me the start/stop error on screen
I tried to bypass by disconnecting the cable and removed the fuse just like in this video

it is still giving the error? any ideas?
Thanks

You're going to get the error until the batteries are charged enough to satisfy the system monitors. The fuse removal just prevents the startup test from seeing the Aux battery, it does not disable ESS or the system monitors.

If you are still on the original batteries, it's time to replace them. If not, separately charge each battery and then put it all back together. Letting it sit for a month is hard on the batteries. They should be on a battery maintainer, or disconnected.

I know, totally my fault when I left
it's still on the original batteries, should I replace the aux first?
Replace them both at the same time. Be careful with the cables so they don't touch anything, I put plastic bottles over the cable ends. Fully charge the batteries before installing them.

With the fuse removed, the startup test is done on the Main battery. Getting the error message shows it is below acceptable levels. Fully charging both batteries should get you by until they are replaced. Be sure to carry a jump starter if you go anywhere, or leave it running.

If you want to bypass the aux, why replace it at all? Remove it to save weight if you feel like unburying it.

I didn't have any issues. Be sure the seller you buy from is Amazon. They don't want a core return. If the batteries go bad during the warranty, they should send either a new battery or a gift card.

You can get a comparable price and warranty from Walmart, Sam's Club, and Costco. Everyone else is a little more expensive. The size you want for the Main is 94R (H7). It is the largest the tray will accommodate. Some trucks come with the smaller H6, depending on the options ordered.

Oh, boy. Learning from youtube video.

The batteries were extremely low. That was the problem. No need to search youtube and get into that "the aux battery causes poor mpg, climate change and death wobble" types of stuff.
But it's the "in thing, cool Jeep thing" to do. Why? Because it's repeated so many times.
If any of my cars sit for a month - they go on a tender (BatteryMinder)
My original batteries lasted fine in my first Gladiator, and the batteries in my current JT are over 2 years old and doing just fine.

This is how I charge mine when it sits for a few days (and it's been sitting a lot since I'm not really supposed to be driving with new meds and med conditions)

The Aux battery gets a lot of hate, especially from those who don't understand the system, and those that ignore the warning signs of impending failure. The purpose of the Aux battery is to keep the computers stable during ESS events. If you always turn ESS off, having the battery is not necessary. ESS still works with just one battery, but can become problematic as it ages.

The two batteries are paralleled together all the time, except the startup test and during ESS events. The system sees them as one large battery otherwise. The startup test checks the voltage level in the Aux battery. If it is too low, the ESS unavailable message is shown. When the fuse is removed for the delete, it forces the startup test to look at the Main Battery so the Aux battery error is not displayed.

If the vehicle needs dealer service, they may complain because it has been modified from the factory configuration. It depends on the dealer.

I learned of the aux battery two hours after I took my ’24 Gladiator home from the dealer last Tuesday night. My first order of business was to go find an E6 external torx socket that’s required to remove the studs from the posts on the auxiliary battery, since your new aux battery won’t have them. Better to have that socket and not need it than need it and not have it.

I’ve been screwing with cars, trucks, and bikes since 1972. When did they invent these torx sockets?

I was able to use a standard 4mm socket to transfer the posts between batteries.
