How do you make LED bulbs work in the non LED housings?

We have a 23 Ecodiesel Rubicon, bought off the lot, and did not come with the LED lighting package. I really dislike the factory halogen headlights, so I just ordered Diode Dynamics Elite headlight But that still leaves the rest of the non LED exterior lighting.

Which, if any, of the exterior lights can I just replace the incandescent bulbs with LEDs without reprogramming?

If I use a programmer to tell the Gladiator that there are LEDs installed can I avoid the use of resistors?

Are special bulbs (Example: CANbuss compatible) required?

If possible I would like to us simple LED replacement bulbs to replace the existing incandescent bulbs and not get hyper flashing or error messages.

I used / Use Jscan and run LED headlight, LED Taillights, LED drivng lights.. Jscan did change the settings and no resistors are in use.. everything works find now for over 2 years. Tails are Oracle .. Headlights will be Diode D when the weather warms (replacing the Putcos) and the driving are Diode Elite.

Will this work if you are just replacing the incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs in the OEM incandescent housings?

LEDs bulbs in the front won't be an issue, they'll be plug and play.

Swapping to LEDs in the taillights will throw a bulb out code in the dash, you will need Jscan or ZAutomative to change the settings for taillights swap.

I thought that would be the case, but there are so many threads on this subject with a lot of conflicting answers.

I did try a set of no name CANBuss compatible LED bulbs with integrated resistors in the tail lights. (They were part of an auction box lot, essentially free, so why not give them a try.) If you installed either left or right, but not both, no error codes. But if you installed both there was almost an immediate error code and hyper flashing.

I don't recommend LED bulbs with integrated resistors. These in particular got hotter than the original incandescent bulbs.

YES on the Headlights.. the Oracles are their taillight units and the driving lights are Plug and Play fit the OEM openings.

I bought a pack of resisters off Amazon. Just self tap them into the metal were they won’t touch anything because they get hot

OK... So far two votes for Jscan, and one vote each or Alfaobd and ZAutomative.

Yeah, I didn't start this as a programmer thread, but here goes.

Why not ECRI? I kind of like the idea of a programmer that can be removed once you're done programming. I don't know of a programmer, other than ECRI, that can be removed after you're done.

Is there an exhaustive thread that compares most all of the available programmers? Most threads on programmers in this forum seem centered on Tazer or Jscan.

Alfaobd has been around longer and can do more. I've been using it on my ram trucks since 2016

Jscan is good,a little learning curve.Tpms is one example. To lower the pressure threshold you do max tire load pressure instead of light load. Most of the guys and gals can help here.

Sir, I suggest you go to jscan.net and read/learn about the capabilities of Jscan. There is also a Facebook page for Jscan with multiple tips and succesful posts from users. BTW You do not leave Jscan connected once you properly make the changes / adjustments

I tried Amazon LED bulb rreplacements for the tail lights without a programmer. At startup there was no No error code until after driving for 20+ minutes and or while using the turn signals.
