Need advice, and consolation...
My baby started missing little over a month ago, got the generic P0300 code, so thought it might be fuel delivery/spark, changed out injectors/plugs (one was fouled)- but the code remained..
Took it to the dealer and well this is their solution- watch vid

Cams look worn, but everything else? I need advice- I think putting a "used" engine in is nuts considering I'll likely have the same issue again...
There is only 72K on this engine, I've been good to it.... kinda at a loss for words...

There is no Magic 8 Ball here to predict the future. Every bad engine with these issues was a new engine at one time also.

If me, I would be looking for a low mileage salvage pull or conversion pull from somebody like Rubitrux for a replacement. You being in Canada, have more limiting options or extra expense for such things though.

There is no cheap way out of this unless you want to do some unethical things to kick the can to somebody else.

Pretty much. If the issue is inherent to the design, than new or old, may well be the same.
Swap to a Hemi and possibly deal with Hemi tick. Swap to a LS and possibly have lifter issues there as well. I used to jump ship based off being afraid of these things, especially since at the time I was driving a WRX with the EJs known to blow out cyl. 4. Bought a bunch of Toyotas and had lots of issues, only ever regret selling the vehicles I love, even with their issues. Just dealt with a lifter failure on a Chevy 6.2, a motor I really enjoyed. Nothing is bulletproof.

Now days, with these things I ask if I love the truck/car enough to keep it. If this happens on mine I fully plan to put a Hemi or LS in it, not to get rid of this issue, but to drive something I love and love it even more.

Good luck, and it does suck, my sympathies go out to you.

I think I am going to replace the right side cam, all lifters and rockers... we'll see where that takes us.. replacing it with a identical low milage pull will set me back around 15k-17k cdn, i would rather put that money towards a hemi or trade the mojave in when we get a more substantial engine choice in 2026 in the JT... appreciate your advice..
