I wanted to know if anyone had any insight.

On the freeway in cruise control the other day, my gladiator started vibrating and it threw a flashing CEL. I pulled over and turned the vehicle off. After a minute or so I turned the vehicle back on thinking I'd still have a CEL and I was going to get to the other side of the freeway where it's safer. No warning lights. I drove it for a while and everything was fine like nothing every happened.

I don't believe this is the valve train issue because I dont have any abnormal tapping sound (at least I don't think I do- sounds like a normal 4valve v-6 so there's a lot going on- but not that ping pong ball sound). It felt like the misfire you'd get if a coil pack failed.

I took it to the dealer - it has 30k miles. And everything ran great- and most unusual- there were no stored codes. My experience with this dealer has been good and I've worked with them for about a decade. I don't think they are pulling one over on me and they aren't hearing anything unusual either. So no codes and it's running fine now.

Has anyone had anything similar happen to them?

Flashing cel could be a misfire. If it deems itself worthy the cel will turn off and may not leave a code. You can try a few rapid accelerations to see if you can duplicate it, but without a scan tool on the ready it too may just go away.

Accelerating enough to wind up the engine not a quick burst of throttle. Hold it down a few seconds!

I'll give it a shot now that the dealers had a look. I am just surprised that there are no stored codes or history. Thanks
