Earlier this week I was dropping my daughter off at school and was a little late headed back to work. We were at a stop sign coming out of her school trying to turn left on a two lane but very busy road and there was a lot of traffic coming from the left. There was one car in front of me. Traffic from the left came to a stop from a long line at their upcoming stop light, so the next car in front of us, coming from the left stopped though so there was a gap to pull through. The car in front of me went ahead to go left also and I looked at the car that was stopped and he waved me through also so I started to go and as I looked to the right to see if there was any other traffic coming from the other direction I just realize the car in front of me had come to a complete stop and I clipped him pretty good… I only went about 10 or 15 feet so I wasn’t going terribly fast but he had a small little BMW SUV that I ran into.

My left front fender hit his back right quarter panel tailgate.

We pulled over and I apologize and the guy was fine and we called the police and obviously I was at fault.

no damage to my front bumper or winch or my grill hood. It really just looks like my left quarter panel.

We were both able to drive away and my truck drove fine although the fender is barely hanging on and it does rub when I turn right or left.

I have three lights on the dash and also stability error message on the middle of the screen.

There is a guy selling a 23’ Gladiator vendor with Lights in my Jeep color off (white) for a couple hundred bucks near me and it seems like an easy swap, but I am a little concerned about the lights and any other damage. I’m tempted to just take it to the dealership and eat the $1000 deductible to make sure everything is repaired properly. I’d like to keep the truck for a long time. I do love it.

just wanted to get some others feedback - thanks in advance

I don't have an answer for your lights, but I want to give you a thumbs up for accepting responsibility. Plenty of people wouldn't, especially to online strangers.

I'll take a guess at the lights though. Adaptive cruise and parking proximity. Basically the "radar"

Make sure that fender for sale is from a Mojave or Rubicon, the other models sit lower.

I’d at least have a body shop look at it. Make sure nothing structural is tweaked. Especially, since I’m sure you made a claim for the BMW damages.

Do you guys think I’m better off just biting the bullet and going to a dealership and letting them look at everything and just paying the $1000 deductible or trying to save a few bucks by the Fender used if it comes off a Mojave or Rubicon… And have my local mechanic try to deal with the collision error lighting on the dash and the stability issue?

In the overall scheme of things $1000 isn’t much to get it fixed. If you weren’t going report it to your insurance I’d look at fixing it yourself. But the accident is on your record anyway.. you’ve got the lights on.. all the time and effort and research to figure out the lights.. if it was me I’d just pay the $1000 and get it fixed.
