Black and/or Silver front skid plate on 26' Mojave ?

Couldn't help to notice on some of the 26 Mojave models some have a Silver front skid plate and some a Black. I've seen both the Mojave and Mojave X like this. I know some of the earlier models had the silver. Picked mine up last week and it was black. Thoughts?? Just a jeep thing whatever was available that day?? Very curious as to what the reason might be and has anyone else noticed.

AFAIK, the silver skid is aluminum and black is steel. Just a guess, but possibly the reasoning behind this is the same aluminum parts supply issue that affected the Rubicon hoods.

The silver skid plate on my Mojave looks to be just painted silver, its already chipping off and the black spot gets bigger with every wash. Tempted to just pressure wash it all to black.

Mine was silver and it was steel. Had to trim it when going with 10th Anniversary bumper with winch. Painted mine black, looks much better.

The silver skid plate is steel, not aluminum. It is on all Mojave's that come with the plastic bumper. The black skid plate comes on all Mojave's with the steel bumper. They are not interchangeable unless you do some modifications to them.

From what I've seen the black skid plates on the Mojave X due to the steel bumper option. Grey on the Mojaves that have the factory plastic bumpers. Like above they are not interchangeable without some trimming of the gray one.

Maybe black and grey are different in size or have cutouts for the metal bumper?

I added a 10th anniversary knockoff bumper to my Mojave it needed a bit of trimming where it met the skid plate brackets it looked like it should have been trimmed that way to start with. The silver skid plate just needed the two (front) upper corners trimming about half an inch by a few inches surprising they would use two different versions.
