I’ve got a big beautiful ā€˜99 GMC Suburban waiting for a fresh rebuild. Big boy with the 454. Thing is a beast that gets 10-11 mpg towing or not towing. 42 gallon tank. Nightmare to fill up right about now but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just something about a big ole chunk of old metal running around trails is strangely satisfying. 454 is pretty awesome off-road too. :CWL:

There's nothing like a big block. I always wanted a 2001-2006 with the Vortec 8100. So awesome.

Ya know I test drove a couple a few years back. I honestly prefer the 454. I know the engines are very similar but the 7400 just felt better. Throttle response and driving was just better feeling to me. Not that they are sporty by any means but the 454 won me over.
