Who bought an LE because they thought it would be out first?

Why did you buy an LE?

Different kind of LE thread. I'm just curious how many LE buyers bought it because they thought they would get them before a well optioned Rubicon?

How many wanted it cuz it was special edition and had most of the options they wanted in a Rubicon?

Which options did the LE not come with that are available on Rubicon?

I canceled out on my order. Glad I did. Would be very annoying to be waiting around when others can go grab one off the lot speced more to their liking.

I really thought it would be first, they gave no indication otherwise. I like the leather dash option better than the metal insert. So I would have chose both 1 & 2 but I really did think the LE would be first. Why would you call it a Launch Edition if it wasn't first?

tbh time never really factored into my decision making. I had been waiting for this truck for 2 years and almost pulled the trigger on the Taco TRD Pro, but as a previous TJ and GC owner I couldn't shake off the love for Jeeps LOL. I liked the fact that it was a special edition, but also was a bit underwhelmed on how there was nothing "huge" that made it so special - wheels, badge, some interior trim... I was hoping something more that made it a special edition but having said that I still don't have buyer's remorse or anything like that. I shall patiently wait to take the delivery of my Firecracker Red LE

Your poll is seriously flawed.
I need the ability to choose both the first two choices.
The "Cause Bacon' button is missing.

c'mon bro, do you even plywood?
you can do better...

My reasons:
  • I was/am looking at a Rubi with just about all of the options. LE didn't have anything extra I didn't want. Still missing a few things (brake controller, soft top, all weather mats), but I can add those myself after the fact. Pre-specs hitting the lots are missing some features I'm interested in that likely can't be added easily.
  • The red dash is f-ugly. Not a fan of the "dark" saddle seats needed to get a gray dash. When JT was formally launched and it was clear black leather would only come with red dash (remember prior to that certain exterior colors could be chosen with black leather seats and gray dash), that was another selling point of the LE. And let's face it, the dash is the thing you'll be seeing the most while driving inside the vehicle...
  • I've never been looking at a JT with the "basic" colors that are available now. Always favored Gobi, Sting-Gray and Granite. After seeing JLs in Sting-Gray that one dropped off my list. So with a Granite LE, I'll still get it sooner (or within a week or two) of a custom order.
  • The fact that it's a "launch edition" or has a special badge had no input to my decision.
  • My dealer told me on 4/3 during the pre-launch signup that I probably wouldn't see it until August. Right now all indications are Granite LEs will likely be delivered in August. So basically meeting my delivery expectations.
  • We've been waiting 25 years for the JT and I'm going to get it with what I want on it. After 25 years, what's a few more weeks?

I ordered the LE because of the options it came with and I really preferred the leather wrapped dash. I didn’t expect to be first, as I knew there were pre specs being built and shipped to dealers.

What does concern me is that there is no rhyme or reason to the order in which they will be built. I was all over the LE order and got it in as soon as I could. I could care less if someone with a VIN 400-500 behind mine gets shipped out a few days before mine... But... if that few days turns into months because they run out of parts I don’t think that is fair.

Other than the color choice (silver for me) and thinking late June at the latest, late May at the earilest.

All my reasons are the same as yours. Even looking to get the same missing options.

Also, I feel like we have to wait and see how the Gobi and the Gator color looks on a real life Gladiator - I am just confused on how Gator color looked on one of those concept vehicles... Ideally, I will buy a second Gator Rubi in Diesel and keep that strictly for overlanding/off-roading and keep my Firecracker Red to just drive around town. I might even go with something cheaper than Rubi in Gator and then custom build my way up after weighing in what the costs/ROI will be, but I have a lot of time to decide

First post and glad to be here. Learned a lot about the purchasing process through all the threads. In retrospect, I knew very little and incorrectly assumed Launch inferred at Launch. I honestly do not like all the interior red accents but figured I'd get over it relatively quickly. I also wanted MTs and a soft top which isn't the end of the world. I guess I feel entitled enough to want what I want for the price we're all paying. LE Badge and Rubicon decals coming off Day 1.
Do we know what the timeline is for fully loaded custom orders? Curious to know before I nag the salesman at Jeep Southampton NY. May be worth canceling and subbing to a full spec 100% to my liking.
Thanks

Welcome aboard!

You can add your info to the tracking spreadsheet and see how it matches with others who ordered around the same time you did. Non-Granite LEs are supposedly starting build in the next few days. If you don't have current status, you'll either have to hassle your dealer or Jeep concierge line to get it. Biggest unknown/variable is delivery time once it's built. Closer to Toledo you are the sooner you'll get it.

If you put a custom order in today, you may not get in front of LEs if they start building them next week.

Yea, I mean, I'm disappointed that Launch didn't mean Launch. But... I think I can hold out a little longer...
