With me being told that after all these months after ordering a Sport S and being told it will be built the week of July 4th, I went to my dealership to just sit in a Gladiator. It was all I could hope for. Man I was as happy as a fly on a cow tail. One day all mine, all mine.
While standing at the tail gate I was talking with this young salesman and he proudly pointed to and rubbed the :brokenhearted:419,and said" yea this is this 419th one made". It took all I had to not blow his world apart. I just looked at him and said thank you and walked away.:surprised:

Lol he is gonna be embarrassed or extremely confused when they get two gladiators...just tell him it must be a defect from factory with two 419s but you will take one for a 5k discount :giggle:

Unfortunately this phenomenon is not limited to the male sales species ! My local (Lithia) dealership has been "saving costs" (I "ass-ume") by hiring many female employees - sales, parts and service counter . Some DO know the biz, but the ones that don't . . . ugh ! What bugs me is that some, not all, of the Sales-Ladies out on the lot I've "run into," have tried some of the "feminine charm" ! Subtle is the "key". Too charming and I don't know wether to "say yes" or get charged with "attempted rape" . . . :CWL: :swear:  . . . ;) .

It really gives us salespeople a bad name. I pride myself on learning and loving my product. With the Gladiator I am putting my own money where my mouth is. I hate mystery shopping other dealerships and not being treated the right way. My least favorite thing is when someone assumes you can't buy anything, and they will not even talk to you about the product you are trying to buy. Just my two cents from the sales side.

The first place I went to told me that ONLY LEs were being sold this year and that they were very limited editions and therefore they had to mark them up by $10k. They slid the offer in front of me for $72k, of which I folded neatly and put into my pocket to look at and mock them later. I Laughed hysterically and walked out to my car(with a sales person and a manager following me) and got in(still laughing) and drove away.

oh my god.... not sure if this takes the cake or the 419th made does... I gotta think this does BECAUSE there is nothing written that says 2019 Gladiator - at least the 419 guy had some little spec of possibility he was right!

This wins!

This technically shouldn’t count being it happened back in January, but... I swing by the dealership to set up a service appointment for my 2012 JKUR. The service writer was delayed a few minutes with another customer so I was killing a little time looking over a JL on the floor. Sales guy comes over and starts his pitch. I kindly say I’m just killing time waiting on the service guy. He continues his leisure suit Larry pitches. The man refused to leave me alone. He started asking questions about my Jeep, he saw me drive up. Then starts telling me how I’d better trade it in while it’s still worth something.

I figured I’d shut him down by saying I’m waiting on the new Jeep truck. He responded that Jeep is never going to make a truck. “So I guess you missed all the spy photos, auto blogs and the unveiling at the LA Auto Show?”, I says... He replied with, “ it ain’t real, they will never build it. We’ve been waiting for a Sprinter van for years and they never followed through on that. The best move you can make is to trade your old jeep for this one right here.”

Sadly, my experiences with car salesmen usually involve this mixture of moron and asshole. I’ve dealt with two that were good experiences, Jack in 1995 and Richard in 2000. I try hard to keep an open mind when doing a car deal but the vast majority of salesmen prove themselves to be steaming piles like “That Guy”

About a month ago I called a dealer that had a Sport S on the lot with the max tow package, the only one within 200 miles of me. I inquired about it and wanted to make sure that it did indeed had the max tow. The salesman I talked with said that it didn't have the max tow because you can only get that package in a manual. huh? I told him that wasn't true and it's only available on the Sport S, I asked him to go look at the sticker and I would hold on the phone while he did. He said that he didn't need to look at the sticker because he was certain that the Sport S they had on the lot was an automatic and the manuals weren't available yet. He asked if I was interested in the truck or not, I said I wasn't, he said thanks for wasting his time, I said back it wasn't a waste of time because I gave you a lesson on the Gladiator.

When I went in to test drive a Gladiator, the sales man told me “they are only making 40k, and that’s it”. Said, “they would only be out one year and I need to buy now before I miss out”. Lol, I told him “umm, ok I’m sure 40k this quarter, but Jeep will make as many Gladiators as people will buy”, and walked away from him.

I don't have a Jeep story, but a few days ago while waiting on my F 350 truck getting its oil change I wander over into the dealership to talk about ordering a 2020 F 450. After nearly 45 min of walking the lot and not finding either a salesman or a F 450 just to see what a '19 is like I head to the showroom. 20 min goes by and no a single person said a word to me, finally I ask a guy for some help. I say F 450 I want to order a 2020 and he tells me he has what I need. 2016 F 450 with ONLY 30k miles. He takes me out to see this beast. Rode HARD and hung up wet, good grief, I have owned cars with 130,000 miles in cleaner and better shape. The truck was what you would expect if someone lived in it for 30k mi! In/out beat like a drum.

He then tells me I can get into this gem for only $60,000. I look at him and tell him you know this truck did not sell for $60k NEW...then he tells me F 450 are special order only and extremely rare and go up in value not down. I tell him that truck should be buried, can't believe you have this on the lot of a Ford Dealership! I want to talk about ordering an F 450 2020, OK?

Let me show you what we just got in.

EXCUSE ME, but this is a F 350, I need an F 450 and would like to order one here if I can.

You will love this F 350 2019 model, look at the interior on this (equiv Sport mdl Jeep)

I own a F 350 2019 King Ranch now, why would I want to buy this?

As we are standing there, a family walks by and he says anyone helping you? NO, Ok what are you looking for as he walks away without saying a word to show them a USED Ford Focus!

I haven't heard anything too crazy.

I went to go check out an overland yesterday and the sales guy told me that they are selling like hot cakes, which I know isn't true.

Also, he mentioned being the number one volume dealer in TX....why does every sales person use this line! That's something you heard back in the 90's.
