Can anyone confirm Overland tire size?

2020 Gladiator - Overland - Gator
I assumed the spare tire/wheel in the Overland is a steel wheel and the same sizes (18in rim, 255/70R18 tires).

Though, I read a comment in another thread saying the spare is on a 17” rim.

Can anyone with an Overland confirm the actual spare tire/wheel size?

Need to know so I can order the correct tire upgrades (including spare).

Just crawled under my overland after seeing your post to confirm. The spare is indeed a 17" steel wheel. Tire size 245/75r17

Just crawled under my overland after seeing your post to confirm. The spare is indeed a 17" steel wheel. Tire size 245/75r17

Well if you are wanting to do the ideal and have a perfect match you'll have to do an 18 in spare I believe. I've added a couple of pics to show the 285/70r18 tire and compare to the closest size available in a 17 in tire. I circled the difference o the one image which shows the difference between the 18 and 17 size. The ones in green are closest . If you want to play around with the tire sizes-heres the link.

And I'm curious why the standard tire on the Overland is an all terrain tire while on the Rubicon, more intended for off-road use, etc.- has all season tires?
I'd prefer all-season tires myself since I live in Iowa and will encounter dry, wet, ice, snow, DEEP snow, heavy rains meaning hydroplaning is possible -
Doesn't make sense that I buy a truck for towing and not off-road but get all terrain while one sold for off-road gets all season!
I won't be rock-crawling, going through 10" of mud or sandy beaches. I will encounter snow and ice and rain.
So if the spare is that much smaller - you can't run it on the rear with the locking differential like mine will have.......

Actually, I believe you may have that reversed, if I'm understanding you correctly. The overland is an all season/highway tire(hence the ht on the sidewall of the tire) . The Rubicon has the all terrain (falken wildpeak at3w) all terrain tire. All terrain tires are not an option on the overland as it is more the luxury (mall crawler) version of the jt, if you will. In addition to the Rubicon all terrain is also an avail option on the sport models. To clarify an all terrain tire has the more aggressive tread. The all season looks more like something you'd see on a Toyota camry (normal car tire). Further, the Rubicon with the all terrain tires has an identical all terrain tire for the spare, I believe. Not sure on the sport/maxtow models tho

OK, I just am aware of what options are available because I built several gladiators on the jeep page in all trim levels before I decided which I wanted. Overland, no at tires available just the highway tire. Sport and sport s, you could choose either tire, at or highway, Rubicon came standard with the falken at's. Further, my overland came stock with the highway tires as that is the only option from what I've seen, which contradicts your info. Further I've never seen a Pic of the Rubicon with anything but the at tires on it. Nor have I seen one in person with highway tires on it -my sister in law has the base Rubicon and it has the falken at's. It was not my intent to tell you that you are wrong just that the info you've seen contradicts what I've seen and read., and I've read ALOT, built several on jeeps sight, as well as cruised dealer lots leading up to my purchase. Just trying to help clear the confusion. Might check out the jeep sight and click "build my gladiator" to confirm what options you are wanting on a particular trim level when it comes to tires.

I went ahead and included pics from the build page
Rubicon- 2 options all terrain tire or mud tire.
Overland - all season tire only

Sport s- the unselected item in the Pic is an all season tire or the selected all terrain tire

Their download info shows only one as well - no optional, no package (no O and no P, only S) and the S was by the other tires. So - they got it wrong, misplaced their S.
I agree there are no other choices for the Overland, but it's just confusing when their own information contradicts their other information.
It made no sense at all to see the info in that PDF show it that way.

THANK YOU! I've not been in the tire business since about 1977 and it would seem that a thing or two has changed....... LOL - I sold, serviced, etc. some of the first radials in our area when I got into cars back in the first part of the 70s.
My Jeep experiences have been buy it, use it, put new stuff in or on when needed, trade it.
Good grief, the Gladiator is like my other Jeeps on steroids taken with a few other drugs. Nowhere else do you see people modifying a vehicle that hasn't even been made yet - buying lift kits and more and the thing hasn't left Ohio.
My Jeeps were mostly - my first, 87 Comanche (loaded with options), Cherokee Sport, then a whole series of Grand Cherokees (mostly for my wife and the 04 WJ that had belonged to my dad before he was killed. No mods to any of them - need tires, check the size and buy new replacements.

I'm only getting an Overland, nothing all that capable compared to the other stuff I see here, but still - who knows what I may end up doing with, or maybe ...... to..... it. .................

So I've learned a thing or three about the Gladiator tires. That means it's a good day - I learned something.

Right on! I went with the overland also, thinking I like the wheels (along with side steps and painted fenders) so I won't be wanting to change them. Then 2 days ago after owning the overland for just 2 months decided the stock wheels and ht tires weren't "jeepy" enough and had them replaced with a wider wheel and a wider taller at tire. So I know what ya mean about the "who knows". I didn't go crazy on it, just a tad wider and taller to improve stance cuz I'm like you No major off roading/rock crawling for me. For me, it was just to improve the looks/beefiness of the truck.

My wife insisted painted fenders and body color top. Well that day they added the ability to get painted fenders on the Sport S - what I had been looking at because of my car hauler. I told her the painted top and the leather seats and the large NAV and screen just could not be bought with a Sport. When I mentioned that about towing - the dealer mentioned the towing of the other models/trim packages and I told my wife what my trailer weighed, what the cars weigh - her response? "well, go buy a lighter trailer then".
So the following week I went about traded car haulers - which is fine, got a tilt bed, no more ramps.
Anyway, bought the Gladiator mostly for towing my cars around 2 or 3 times a year, driving to pick up stuff, and just to have to drive - no intention of true off-road stuff but hey, this is IOWA - SNOW, rain, ice, etc. and our roads can be tough in places.
I wouldn't mind some beefier tires - yeah, it's a Jeep and it's a truck, but don't want to lower the towing ability.
My trailer with car will be 4600-5000 pounds, tops.

Ha, your wife sounds awesome, if ya don't mind me saying so. Speaking of backwards in reference to towing ( like our tire discussion) I was shocked to find out that the max tow is only avail on the sports and can't be added to the all mighty Rubicon. Just seems odd to me. I understand about the towing ability for you. I just haul a small trailer with a zero turn mower to mow the lot at my wife's business so no need for max towing capacity for me.

That being said, I only went 2 a 33 inch tire on a 17 rim that was 11.5 in wide. Stock was 18 inch wheel 32 inch tire and 10.2 in wide. I didn't want to totally give up gas mileage or the stock ride of the truck, much less screw up the shift points of the tranny. Just wanted it to look more beefy. Just depends on everyone's individual needs for their gladiator. Everyone's different.

In my case, we wanted a jeep (I had a Toyota tundra) but didn't want another engine to maintain, Xtra ins, etc., but I didn't want to give up the function of a truck.. Then the gladiator came out. It was a no brainer, I couldn't resist.
