Passenger side bumper And fender have serious damage. They hit something, my guess is another vehicle.
I feel better now, I didn't pay attention to anything but the wheels

Malfunction of the sway bar disconnect...
Front Axle Disconnect. I was reading up on what this is since the gladiator is my first Jeep. Essentially allows the front axle to not spin when in 2H to save MPGs. They have to cut a hole in the axle tube which they say can weaken the tube. This led to me reading way too much about FAB Deletes.

Isn’t FAD what locking hubs used to do?

No, especially not on the flat ground. You could leave it disconnected and it would only impact cornering, etc in street use. If it was left connect when rock crawling all it would do is limit the differences between left and right when one side wanted to go up - it would lift on the other - or that one would hold the other down. Not enough force to snap a tube but it would limit crawling function.

AMC did this on Eagle in the 1980s. The first Eagle came out with no disconnect and full-time 4 wheel drive. Then in about mid 81 they added the disconnect to get their CAFE numbers up. It cost more than it was worth because the gain was just shy of 1 mpg average.
They dropped the front axle disconnect in about 84 or so and allowed you to shift 2 to 4 and back without stopping because there was no need to break or connect the front axle, it was only the transfer case that "shifted". Then later they went back to full time 4x4 mode because the hassle of trying to save a penny wasn't worth it.
There was a complex vacuum setup in the early 80s to make sure the front axle was shifted to "connected" mode before the transfer case shifted into 4x4 mode. Then the reverse was done with vacuum valves and motors to make sure the transfer case was out of 4x4 and back in 2 wheel drive mode before breaking the right axle ag
There was also the danger of the front differential losing lubrication if you didn't run in 4x4 mode now and then with the axle disconnect because it's the turning ring gear that brings lube up for the carrier gears/spiders inside the carrier. Go a couple of years then decide to go into 4x4 mode and you had dry gears in there - bad stuff could happen.

Just my tongue in cheek comment. Is FAD better than locking hubs?
