Would it be better to fold down the velcro first, then screw the mirror to the door through both velcro pieces? I have my mirrors but have not put them on yet.

You could but once you attach the mirror the upper couldn't be removed without removing the mirror first. Would be kind of annoying to have to do that everytime you wanted to switch between full and half door.

I don't have a clue why anyone would recommend mirrors like that on the fabric doors. The great thing about those doors is that you can take the tops and bottoms off and easily store them in the vehicle. Those mirrors will just get in the way, prevent compact stacking, and you will have NO mirrors if you remove the bottoms. I would use something similar to this: https://www.quadratec.com/p/lange-originals/coyote-mirror-pair-jeep-wrangler-jl

or these: https://www.quadratec.com/p/trail-mirror-kit-rectangular-pair-jeep-wrangler-jl-11025.26

On my JK pictured earlier in this thread, the mirrors were mounted on the windshield frame, but since the windshield is easier to drop on the JT/JL, cowl mount would be ideal.

What sucks is I had to poke the holes for the mirrors to mount, so now I'm going to buy some bolts and washers to cover the holes since the mirrors can't be used.

The recommend @Bestop mirror doesn't work. It overlaps the velcro where the upper and lower door meets.

Wow. Disappointing. Hey Bestop, I've invested well over $1000 in this project. Can you please offer a solution as well as provide a return auth for the mirrors I purchased from you! More importantly, can you provide links to some mirrors which WILL attach properly to your doors?

Ouch, very disappointed. I was going to order this set up this week but am going to hold off considering the trouble you have had. Hopefully besttop comes through and makes it right ASAP!!

I would be sending them back to besttop if something doesn’t work out with the mirrors. Over a 1000 bucks for a project that has some ghetto holes that aren’t supposed to be there.... nope. Send em back!

I'm going to give bestop a call first. I see product pictures of the twill with these mirrors mounted and it looks like the mirror base is below the velcro. Maybe the black diamond was built different or maybe the product pictures are a preproduction and they have a design flaw on their hands?

Look at where the upper and lower meet in the advertisement pic, and mine. Advert pic meets near the base of the windshield, mine meets near the center of the cowl. Much lower. You can also see how close the top mirror mounting bolt is to the area where the upper and lower door meet. Sent some pics to bestop customer service, who could see the problem and forwarded the pics to quality department. I'm thinking that the black diamond and twill doors might be designed slightly different.

I escalated this to the customer service team yesterday shortly after you posted. All of our customer service team is working remotely now but I know they will follow up with you. You can also give them a call at 800-845-3567 and are in the office between 8am-5pm Mountain Monday through Friday. If they aren't able to answer just call back in a few minutes. With the current call volume this time of year and given the current situation they are getting swamped at times.

If you want to return the mirrors (if they can't resolve the issue), they can help you do that too.

Stay safe out there!

I have not installed my mirrors yet, but I did look at the mounting holes and it appears that the mounting hole is less than .5" below the velcro faster for the window. I know there are a couple versions of their mirrors and I purchased the 51261-01 mirrors as they were recommended for the fabric doors. Are those the same ones you purchased for your doors, or did you get the 51262-01 mirrors? I only ask because if you have the same ones I do there is no need for me to open the box and try to install these. Thanks!

I have the 51261-01 also. Do you have twill or black diamond doors?
