Looking at a loaded Rubicon and using the USAA true car service the incentives are about $6,000 off. Trade is about average and same as I got from multiple dealers over the last 6 weeks. I think the used car market is a lot worse than the new car so not surprised the trade hasn’t gone up.

I am trying to decide if I should buy now before the bottom falls out on trades are see if the incentives get better. I don’t really believe the people who think they will sell cars at a loss just to have some cash flow.

also anybody have any idea what the USAA true car service does? I can’t see the point doesn’t really seem worth the hassle. definitely not worth all the marketing USAA spends on it. The prices that popped up on the Usaa site were the same advertised on dealer website. When I started shopping back in Feb they were actually higher.

As an example of you are looking to buy a 60k launch edition @ 60k msrp. If you take 10% off that would bring you to 54k. Thats around 7.5% below invoice. Thats doing pretty good.

Yea for Rubicon you don't get as good a deals as others - I just got 6% off invoice (using the worksheet on the forum here) and I felt pretty good with that.

The Rubicons are eligible for the current 0% for 36months so I took advantage on getting some free interest money with that promotion.

I was at 10% off MSRP pre-incentives and 18% off MSRP post-incentives on my Sport. I would hope you can do better.

There are incentives that do apply to Rubicon if you go digging. There have been historic deals posted achieving between 13% and 15% off MSRP.

Keep in mind we are talking about buying a car during a national pandemic. Settling for anything other the best possible deal would be silly.

IMO 10% off is pretty average, I could get that walking into any dealer.

I don’t find it silly but if you want to travel and search I’m sure there can be a few deals found.

Yep definitely not traveling for a jeep with the current pandemic going on. Dealers are saying they have been busy but I don’t believe that for a second. Might take a ride tomorrow and see if there is really any traffic on the lots.

seems like the used market has tanked even more than new with the auctions closed and so many people on unemployment. Likely going to get worse as people stop making payments and just hand over the keys.

Yep, talked to a dealer today that said there is a lot of interest with all the incentives right now but that doesn't mean anyone is buying. I look at all the listings daily and nothing has sold for months, maybe a Sport S with max tow once or twice a month at most.

Here in Dallas, business is slower but seems pretty good. Few dealers will negotiate below the current incentives on fully loaded Rubicons. I just came home with my new JTR and there were 20+ employees looking pretty busy with a steady flow of customers. Not like peak sales days of course, but about the same traffic as a weekday in my eyes. So maybe not enough motivation to sell just yet.

Yea and they all just got a big payday with the PPP loans so I doubt they are feeling too much pain.

I think these observations are very much regional. Here in NJ, dealerships sales have been deemed as non-essential and all dealers in PA/NJ are effectively closed. Some are trying to do online sales and home delivery but vehicles are barely moving from inventory. This has effected locked out all the inventory sitting in these dealer lots, you can't buy it from them and they can't send out in trade. If you find a dealer who is willing to operate you can pretty much name your own price but it's pretty impossible to find a Sport or Sport S at this point.

Well I got 14% off my Rubicon with no incentives. Rubicons are dont really have incentives (save for military, first responders, etc). They're harder to negotiate off of since theyre not as prevalent but do able. It just took a lot of talking to dealers all around.

I mean the Sports and Overland were easy since dealers around me had more and the money on the hood.

There had been some nice discounts and some of the dealers here in Houston seemed to be looking to move some units like Overlands or certain Sport Models with not a lot of accessories in them. Also they all seem to have a lot of White and Black models sitting on the lots. Funny though one dealer that had some good pricing on units just the other day increased their pricing by a couple thousand dollars on the same units what were recently cheaper listed.

Interesting, I did check today with my old search list and they are about 1k more expensive than 2 weeks ago. There is still a Gobi one and an orange one at Meador in Dallas for 43k, and a couple more local to Houston for 44k black and red. Most are back up over 45k.
