I am getting ready to purchase some wheels and was curious what path everyone takes? I was thinking of getting 4 wheels with tires mounted to them, and then a another tire to have mounted to the metal spare. Did anyone else get a matching 5th wheel so you can do 5 wheel rotations. Are you concerned with it being underneath and getting hit with road debris and off-road hits? My plan is to ratchet strap it in the bed when off-roading and put it back under when done. I guess you only use your spare in a pinch and the vehicle wouldn't drive too crazy with 3 wheels sticking out and 1 recessed into the fender while you get to a shop? I loved 5 wheel rotations on my previous JK because the all wear evenly.

I did the 5 wheel and tire combo for 5 tire rotation.

Wheel goes pretty side up in carrier and you're going to bounce off of other hard parts before you get to the wheel.

What version of the JT do you have? Sport? Rubicon?

If you are wheeling in mud and dirt I would suggest giving up on rotating the spare in. Mine hits constantly and is very dirty. I would just leave the steelie down there and buy a cheap tire in the same size for a spare. Save a few bucks since it won’t be seen anyway. I got the tire shop to get me a cheap Patagonia and put it down there. The Nitto 37 wouldn’t have fit anyway.

This. Save $$ and buy a cheap same-size tire for those uh-oh moments.

I'm assuming the gorilla acorn spline drive lugs would still work with spare rim? Is there a company that makes a steel spare rim 17x9 with 4.5" backspace?

Why do you need a different wheel from the stock one? I am running 12.5 wide 37s on stock wheels including the spare and everything works fine. No spacers needed.

Just trying to have spare rim match the aftermarket rims I am getting dimension wise. I think at least to start, I will just keep stock steel spare and wrap it with same size tire as the new wheels get.

That’s my suggestion. Should you ever need the spare it work work as a temp until you get the original fixed.

I did the 5 wheels/tires route. Ordered from dealer yesterday. Mopar has buy 3 tires get 1 free sale. Well, basically buy 4 get 1 free! If we are ever a long way from home and have a tire issue, I do not want to ride on a different tire set up. Just gives me a little extra peace of mind.

Does anyone know if the spare has a TPMS sensor in it? I may slap a new tire on it for now and later on, buy the rim to match the others.
