Agreed. I am originally from Portsmouth, the whole area is well into the 3rd generation on welfare and there's a huge drug problem there. So much so that the local health and police departments are asking citizens to carry Narcan to help with the overdoses. Cat theft is quick and easy and the local scrap dealers offer top dollar.
Well time to go after the scrap dealer.

Honestly I leave my soft top unlocked just in case, but I park it outside with the doors off all summer too. We get a bunch of stolen catalytic converters in waves in my town, but live between cities nicknamed Mantweeka and Methdesto. So it's to be expected. Our PD offers free engraving every once in a while for if they do get stolen. Lifted trucks/suvs tend to be the primary targets here.
I remember your solution being the vernal advice on here, just leave it open and nothing valuable in sight, but, seriously, JT might have been a top target and thankfully it doesn't seem to be. I was always surprised back into the eighties or whatever, it was like Accord most stolen, like, really, that's no fun

It’s been happening here in Canada for a few years now and we don’t have Non citizens from Mexico!.....

.....oh wait! That would make me a...nevermind.
So are you saying its roving bands of Canadians steeling cats down here? :)

Portsmouth is such a mess. I have friends and family that still live there and they still think that place is going to get better. Didn't know that citizens are now supposed to have Narcan, I know that was on the police as one of their biggest things a few years back.

Been happening here for over 10 years. Non citizens from Mexico scavenge everything. Leave a broken appliance on the street for pick up and overnight, it is stripped of any thing copper. Cats are rich in platinum. And it will get worse thanks to...
Ooof, bad take lmao. Non citizen Mexicans contribute to this country in a range of ways from gathering our fruit and vegetables to working as design engineers for some the largest corporations in the world on work visas.

I might be new on the forum, but it doesn’t take much time to realize this ain’t the right forum for bs stereotyping racist remarks. Take that over to the Rebel Rise Again forum or wherever it’s acceptable. Everyone here is here for one reason: The Jeep Gladiator.

One of my vendors advised the stat is: “Every 30 seconds another catalytic converter is stolen.”

That’s 720 a day.

A lifted vehicle would be easier than stealing it from this:

I haven’t looked but was curious if the skid plates on the JT Rubicon covered the Cat converter?

Its time to start emailing your representatives to draft legislation regulating the sale of these cordless tools that are allowing people easy access to catalytic converters.

Tools don't steel catalytic converters, people do. A borrowed phrase from another problem but it holds true for many things in life. If we're not careful, everything will be regulated or illegal to own some day and all the problems will still be there because criminals don't obey laws.

There's no need for anyone to have these weapons of war! They're just an invitation to bad behavior :bandit:

Good Knowledge

I did not know there were two Cats.
Me neither. Although the theft is covered by the car insurance, I'd like to know if anyone has found an anti theft device for them? I can only find ones for Toyota prius, tacomas, honda element.
I think it would be a good investment for $150-$250 price range.
