Treated myself to a “new” set of wheels and tires after recovering from covid. I picked up a set of JL Rubicon 17” wheels and tires (BFG K02’s) with 800 miles on them this afternoon. I’m currently running a set of Falken wildpeak AT3’s on stock overland 18’s. My question is, can I just mount this set myself as a simple swap? The new set already has TPMS. Forgive me if a dumb question but just want to make sure I’m not missing anything here as it seems like it should be a simple swap. Thanks all!

I'm looking to do the same thing. My understanding is yes, things should just work.

Do you have any before and after pictures? I'm still uncertain about bigger tires for the Overland rims, one of the 2 styles of Rubicon rims or Mojave rims? I've seen them all for sale locally.

I’ll take a look through my albums, I definitely have some pics but maybe not a full side profile shot. Bigger tires on the stock overland wheels definitely look great and seems to be the cheapest route, I’m just not crazy over the wheel color/style on my sting gray. Will post up some pics in a bit

Those rims definitely look better with beefier tires. I was checking out the Bright White JT thread and trying to pick among them which is my favorite.

I like all three Lol

anything’s better then stock. Have you thought about upgrading the tires and (maybe) plastidip the stock overland wheels? Otherwise you can’t go wrong with a set of rubi take-offs

Which style did you go with? There are recent threads, one where I asked about Rubicion takeoffs. The other about TPMS. If OEM, should have little trouble with TPMS, tires should also be no trouble.

ah I see, thanks for linking these threads.
I’m not concerned with the fit, rather, the literal process of mounting the new set without needing to rebalance etc.

I actually went with wrangler rubicon wheels since I liked the style more then the gladiator options. Just not sure if I will be blacking out the silver area yet. Check them out:

Slap them on and go. The only reason you would have any trouble is if you knocked a weight off when you were moving them around.
Also, just understand that the JL wheels do not have the same weight rating as the JT wheels. I have not heard of anyone damaging a wheel from overloading but you should be aware of it.

Thanks for this tip. I've seen it briefly mentioned elsewhere and I've been looking only for Gladiator take-offs. I'm honestly not likely to tow much, but I mostly keep my vehicles OEM.

I see now. I have wondered the same. Would assume alignment wouldn't be an issue either.
