Hello everyone. Jeep noobie here and this is the main reason I'm looking for more knowable people to help me. Last week I bough a Jeep Gladiator Sport S. I hate the wheels and tires it comes with. I went online and fell in love with some wheels. These are the specs of the wheels:
  • Size: 17x8.5
  • Offset: 00mm
  • Backspacing: 4.763"
  • Bolt Pattern: 5X127mm
  • Rec. Tire Size: 265/70-17
  • Weight: 29.2 lbs.
The dealership is telling me that if I want to go with those wheels I'll need a lift kit. I do get a message from the webpage I used (not sure if I can post it here) saying that those wheels "might" require a lift kit for a Sport S Gladiator. I cant understand why the dealership is saying that Ill need 35" tires. I don't want that. I want 33". Like I said I'm kind of new to all this, but would those wheels only fit 35" wheels instead of 33"? They want to charge me 2k for the lifts kit and I do have the money, but would spacers be an option? I want to be sure I'm not been push to buy something I don't need. Also open to suggestions.

If your unsure, check out Custom Offsets. I get our shop truck tire sets through them. They ask specific questions, and can tell you how they will fit. We have gotten sets for a 2020 Ram3500, and a 2017 silverado 1500. Both fit great off of their calculator. Just might be something to look into.

I just sold my new stock take-off wheels and tires (33") from my Mojave to a buyer that has a new 2022 Sport. He did not mention any kind of a lift, but some are adding a Teraflex 1.5" leveling kit for the front end. Nothing else needs to change to add 33's unless you go with a very negative offset. Your wheels specs are fine. The 0mm offset will "poke" your wheels/tires out from the wheel openings a bit. Keep in mind that your stock wheels have a +44mm offset.

I went with Quadratec '41' Gunmetal wheels with exact specs you mentioned but with a +12mm offset with LT285/70R17 (33") KO2's. I think they look just right. However, wheel and tires are subjective to each person.

The dealer does have a point suggesting a lift kit if you were to go with 35's. Don't let the dealer try to talk you into anything that you don't want. Enjoy it with whatever you go with! :like:

I don't see why you would. I'm running stock Sport S wheels, and IIRC they are +44 offset. Someone correct me if this is wrong, but wouldn't a 0mm offset just stick out more? If they are sticking out they aren't going to hit anything.

Sorry I am not much help here but I think you're being led on.

Check it out here to compare - https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/

edit: I'm running 285/75/17 tires on the stock wheels. No issues but I don't do any rock climbing, just rutted out dirt roads.

Your mileage may differ I've got 33/10.5/17 on stock rims no rubbing but the wider track of Max-Tow.

I just put wheels with your exact specs on my 2020 Sport S. I kept the factory 245 75 17 tires. 265 70 17 is exactly the same diameter as my tires only 20mm wider. I have a tiny amount of poke which I like! You DON’T need any kind of lift. When it comes time to replace my tires they will be 265 70 17. This does not even mess with your speedometer/odometer accuracy.

285/70/17 no lift on sport S. 0 offset will bring the tire out so no rubbing on suspension components.
