Usually, it's Texans that are gettin' it over a hunnert but we're having a strangely mild summer. It was 88 today, and rained for a while before noon. We're usually pushing 110 by now.
I only wish it would rain. You'd think with dew points 77+ there'd be enough moisture and the high temps would generate the energy - but nuttin.
It sure as hell isn't a "Dry heat" here other than the lack of rain.
We're already about 1.6" below normal just for August.

You can probably count the number of times it's been 100 this year in north Texas on one hand. No kidding. June was mild, July was pretty mild, and August has been in the 90's but also in the low 90's which is pretty unheard of in August. Days like this are downright nice and if you move between the raindrops, you can enjoy a nice day.

Our weird year started in February and March - 2 weeks of well below normal follow by 2 weeks of well above normal. The extreme heat and lack of rain started early. May showers? HA. Grass dying, leaves dropping from trees.
A meteorologist friend is really concerned - he's been tracking temps, ground water levels, rain, etc. - trending, and he says it's matching 1911 and is really worried about the coming winter. He believes this is going to be a really bad one because we're trending and following the pattern of 1911 almost exactly based on his charts.

We have a couple of months where our night time lows are higher than that. Don’t really mind a 121* day if there’s 4% humidity and a little light wind. But, as I age I am getting less tolerant of the heat. Never have been tolerant of humidity. And I mean anything above 15%…
