Called my local 4wheelparts store and got quoted $800 for a simple Teraflex leveling kit install (already have the leveling kit, this is just for labor, which shouldn't be more than like 2.5 hours of work I imagine). I'd do it myself but recently moved and just have a ton of other stuff going on in life so it's hard to find the time. Plus its fuckin cold lol. What quotes are others seeing for this type of work? Anyone have luck with the dealership?

What? I did mine in my driveway in about an hour.

I got the following quotes (that I can remember):

Dealer #1 - $550 (labor)
Dealer #2 - Like $850 (labor and parts)
Local Shop #1 - $525 (labor)
Local Shop #2 - $390 (labor)

I went with the last one which was a very reputable shop in the Houston area. They did a fantastic job and even told me to come back after 1,000 miles for a free torque check on all the joints just in case they loosened up.

Allout Offroad Richmond for anyone interested. They have several locations all over Greater Houston though.

I live in an apartment, very limited access to tools, no driveway :) but I hear ya, I know it's not a significant project for most and ordinarily I'd do it myself under different circumstances. Which is why I was shocked by the quote.

Shops sometimes inflate prices on things they do not want to do. There has to be a forum member near you that will lend you a driveway or garage. I know my 4wheel parts was down on techs so there was a backlog of work to be done.

I think that must be what it is due to labor shortage and all that. Yeah I may hold off and do it myself next time I visit family back home.

Good lord! I did my lift and shocks in the driveway... Paid $130 for 3 years of unlimited alignments from Goodyear. Figure I will use it a few times after hard wheeling etc.

Man that's killer! ... I have a Good Year close by. Did you have to purchase tires from them for that deal ?

Anything approaching $600 is a little much. My dealer did it for $400.

Similar situation here. Got some pricing from a local reputable shop and got a 3 hour @ $120/hour quote for Teraflex 1.5" front kit installation. Can't justify that when I know I can do it myself.

Is an alignment required after a 1.5" level in the front?

My dealer wants $900 for labor—so they can take it to a different shop and pay them to do it while keeping some for themselves.

Solid Axles. Just a quick adjustment on the drag link to re-center the steering wheel, which can be done in your driveway with only a 15mm wrench.

Shops go off of book labor. Not sure how many hours the book states.

Maybe an hour, hour and a half a corner?
