Yep, lots of options in a 12.5 All-Terrain . . .

Trying to find 11.5 Muds . . .
There are also plenty of options for 12.5 Muds. It's just the 11.5 that is tricky.

I'm in the same boat as you, I'd like to stick with the 4" rule. But everyone who has ever put on 12.5" has been happy with it, as far as I can tell from the forums.

I'm in a LOT more gravel and mud than I am snow. I like the idea of less chance of rubbing and throwing debris unnecessarily! :)

A 315 70 17 BFG KO2S will sit almost flush on stock wheels. They have just barley a little bit but it looks good.

Mine with the 315 70 17 BFG ko2 and 2.5 inch lift

Yeah I like those a lot too. If they made an 11.5" it would be a no-brainer. What psi do you run on the 7.5" rims?
I’m at 35cold.

no weird wear. Mainly highway and city. A few hundred off-road.

Some 315s won't stick out at all. Mine are perfectly flush. Might depend on trim too.

Oh I like that idea. Will definitely keep in mind.

Edit: looks like that comes to 34.1". Wish there was one closer to 35". 265/85R17 would really be ideal.
It is listed as 34.6" on the MT web site, and reports are that it measures true to size.

What is "poke" and "3 peak" in English?
Poke - tires extend beyond fenders.

3 peak - 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake Designation. An industry standard rating tires for the ability to accelerate in snow. Should also translate to better turning/braking in snow, but the rating is technically about acceleration.

Edit: weird, I had a link in here to an article about it. Maybe it was flagged as commercial? Anyway, its an official thing.

Not MT but I recently got 35x12.5x17 Duratracs for my JTR. Stock wheels....pretty close to no poke.

That's about where mine sits on 35x12.5x17 too. The Rubi fenders must be slightly wider. I know they are taller. I'd call mine flush. Hopefully the inspection station will say the same thing.

For now, I'm pretty set on 11.5

I know that really limits my options, but the Jeep wants what it wants!

I was in the same boat, wanted to run my stock JTR wheels. The only 35x11.5 MT is the Nitto trail grappler. Not my style and heavy. I compromised a bit and went with the Maxxis Razr AT, they are more of an MT lite. Maxxis fan as an avid mountain biker. Happy with the choice.
