Anyone replaced their front brake pads yet?

Wandering if anyone has replaced their front brake pads yet. I just finish rotating my tires and noticed I was going to need front pads soon and checked out Mopar pads first and they are over $200 a set which to me is expensive for a set of pads. So if anyone has changed theirs what did you go with and are you satisfied with the way they grab and being quiet?

The OEM pads are made by Akebono. Ceramic... can be had at most stores for about 1/2 the MOPAR price.

I was about to post almost the same post word-for-word.

Just rotated mine yesterday and the front pads are low. The wear on the rotors seems perfectly even, not a ripple on them so I'm thinking just swap in new pads and go. Anyone see a problem with not having them turned?

Having done hundreds of brake jobs, when it comes to my own vehicles - I check for runout, parallel of the rotor surfaces, etc. and if in specs, I simply scuff them up.
But I do measure as if the surfaces are worn unevenly, so the sides are not parallel, say worn thinner on the outer parts than the inner, then your pads won't make good contact.
So I measure thickness near the hub, thickness near the edge, and do that at least 4 spots 90 degree apart. If in specs, I don't "turn" them on a lathe.

You can usually get away with just replacing pads every other brake job as long as no grooving or pulsating

I bought my Gladiator last July with just over 15,000 miles. It's just over 25,000 miles now and I ASSUME they're the original pads.

I think 25k miles out of stock pads is good given how big and heavy the stock wheels & tires are.

Anyway, I ordered replacement pads from Amazon just now because RockAuto wanted $11 for shipping and Amazon charged me none. Hopefully it'll be an easy install. The worst part is lifting the wheels/tires back on because 67 doesn't lift as easy as when I was 37 or 47!

My brake pads are fine at 26,000 miles and that includes Colorado Springs trip last summer and towing my trailer last fall and a lot of stop and go driving because we live in a rural curvy hilly area and use my truck for most of our hauling and shopping.

I know your pain every time I need to remove a tire, I have 33000 and pads are still ok for now usually go by the rule of when the pad is as thick as the pad’s backing plate it is time to replace. Since you bought used you don’t know how the truck was used or driving conditions so mileage is not a factor for you If you do replace your pads I would recommend you not force the brake fluid back into the abs when you collapse the pistons Good time to flush the old fluid

I'm over 60000 miles original brake pads, with a replacement set from setting on shelf to put on. I'll probably be replacing them soon, I'm fairly conservative on braking I guess though. I try to have regular wear out parts ready to go, a habit I got from being in Europe with USA vehicle in 90s. Back then: when and if you seen oil filters at Post exchanges you had to get a few if available or possibly not going to get one when needed.

Measured out at 5mm on the fronts at 26,500
Lots of mountain driving and lots of big hills in town.
